What's new

6.7 Super Duty Maintenence/Mods

I never considered the cumin truck to be "less" for me it was just a really antiquated transmission then later a 3rd party transmission (asin) which I personally don't consider a plus.

From my professional experience anytime we use non OEM sourced stuff (it's been happening a lot recently) that's when we have problems.

12v into a 2016 would be comically bad though
On a serious note I think you’ll find it’s more than adequate in your OBS F350 with a S300G or S362SXE. Tow rigs aren’t racecars particularly if running manual trans. They hold speed with authority.

I’m sorry to hear this had to happen to you ruining your Labor Day holiday though.

It's got a 5.9 CR turbo currently, probably no where near what those are, but big step up from the hx35.

I gross 36k lbs with "only" 330/750 every day. So I doubt I'll be disappointed with power on this. It's more the stopping, turning and whatnot.

I still think it will be great for 90%+ of the towing I'll do. Like I mentioned in another thread, if I have to rent a tow rig if I decide to take my big trailer and 3 rigs to koh or whatever, no biggie.

It's the factory tires, they suck. I put a set of Wildpeak A/T's in the 255 flavor on the truck right after I bought it and the difference is night and day. I drive around in sport mode with the ABS off every day and don't have any traction issues.

Loose the shit tires and it will be a different animal

I'm all about quiet towing and max accel on highway towing, which a stock-ish AS does better at both.
So no tire swap for me.........

he basically means no big thornbird baddies.

Neither did I.

I have started to notice late into this season that my Wildpeaks are starting to get a little nosier. Coming up to 50k miles now. They are are still wearing like iron though, so I do wonder if it's more of a factor that my DD went from a second gen Tacoma on MT's to a LS460 on new Michelins.

Yeah. Don't really drive the truck around locally for fun and I spent enough on it already, so swapping tires that still have new tread, is not in the cards. I've also had "AT;s" that were pretty noisy. Maybe the modern one's are better, but I haven't had a rig that required an AT in over 20 years now.

I gave up DD trucks or SUV's, the same "chassis" sedan, virtually always handles better (same tire for tire) and is lighter (and typically faster, HP per HP). Sad Ford got out of that game, not sure what will eventually replace my DD Fusion Sport.

I asked about that, he said he's never seen one lock up hard enough that you couldn't spin the engine over with a bar.

Hydrolocked would have bled down after 5 days and even if it didn't, it would spin backwards a bit.

I did just talk to him and asked if we should pull the dpk filter apart just to see. He said they were talking about that this morning and had planned on it soon. Also mentioned that even though they've never seen one lock up that hard, but they also see new stuff every day.

Still hoping for the best, but hate to say it, they drink oil in a hurry when they over heat.

Did anyone pull the dipstick ?

Yes, that was the first thing I did, was right below full.

I guess I'll admit the temp guage could have been pegged and I might not have noticed, but again I think it would ding at me?

If the oil was on the stick it wasn't over heated for long, so that is good news.
(if it was ever really overheated)

Pull the sensor out of the top of the CP4 before you start that truck again and see if it's got glitter on the screen. If it does, you know what you have to do....

Filter has no signs of metal..... Still looking like a bad bottom end.:homer:
Did you or anyone pulled the sensor as SLOWPOKE693 suggested?

Glitters may not make it to tank and back to filter if it went down as quick it did? I’d imagine the screen on FCA sensor will be the first to catch it.

I think the dpk filter should be the same as the suction control valve

.

There’s my following dot so I can keep up with the latest updates instead of bothering Yotieatietwo directly :homer:

Damn… that’s a bummer to hear. How many miles again? What was your oil change routine?
