What's new

4th Gen 4Runner: Cross Country Runner

That's just everyday life out west. The east must really suck if that impresses you :flipoff2:

Seriously though, nice pics. I need to expand my explorations.
The Appalachian mountain area looks fairly similar to northern Idaho terrain wise. Just replace the big ass pine trees with massive deciduous trees.

So, I took the Toyota to work today. Then filled the tank up after work.

On the ride home I noticed the main screen says I’m getting 28 mpg. It was reading 27-29 mpg on side roads in central Pennsylvania as well.

Highway mileage is a steady 17mpg.

Only thing I can think of is this thing just drinks the gas at higher RPM’s. It’s a 4.0 with 3.73’s and 33” tall tires.

I have one stress today, and one tomorrow.

Today: I-80 through Gary Indiana past Shitcago suburbs.

Tomorrow: Make it across…Nebraska. :barf:

Wyoming bound. :smokin:

Nebraska speed limit better be 75-80.

I’ve seen enough corn.

Also fully expecting lots of speeding tickets from Iowa. Apparently they have cameras all over the interstate and send you tickets in the mail. :flipoff:

Well I officially hate tourists.

We hit a lot of dirt up Shadow Mountain across from the Grand Tetons today. Got a late start, because we needed one morning sleeping in past 5:30am and the time changes are affecting all of us.

Stopped to pet the NPS horses and a bear was sneaking around. Those horses were not having it.

Also ate dinner near the Snake River.

I love Wyoming.

Didn't think about the time change, you probably loose an hour every day! :lmao:

Did the Coleman green propane bottle explode yet? :flipoff2:

Looks like a blast though, I need to see Wyoming soon.

We did actually lose an hour each day.

Not yet. :flipoff2:

So many places to see, not enough time.

Going west is always easier for me than the east time change.

I have learned to get in the car and around 9am change the clock back an hour.

I learned the first time that the GPS has already accounted for the time change. If you don’t then you think there’s only 2 hours left, and in reality it’s 3!

We live 20 mins from the mountain time zone. We don't go over that way much, but almost every time I forget and it screws me up. 3 hours to Kalispell and 1 hour back is hard to get used to. Or even worse when you cross over on a backroad cruise.

In fact my wife's friend had to sit at the airport for an extra hour, because she forgot to account for it

I’ve always wondered what it would be like to live close to a time zone change. Like if you worked in a different zone and gained an hour every day when you got home…that would be :smokin:.

I've only worked over there a few days. It's a little off, but really doesn't make a difference once you aren't looking at your clock.

Last night we went the whole way up to Mammoth Hot Springs and then to Old Faithful.

In-laws were with us and everyone dragged their feet leaving in the morning. I warned everyone how big the park was…:shaking: We got back last night at 11:30pm after driving 360 miles. But, the northern part of the park is AMAZINGLY scenic.

Thursday we’re headed to the Lamar Valley, and then Friday we’ll hit stuff we missed on the western side.

Today was a relax day.

We spent almost 6 hours at a spot we found on the Greys River. Smoked two cigars there, ate lunch, and dinner. Then headed up the mountain past Murphy Lake.

I also ran into a dude I work with in the Bridger. :laughing:We both said to ourselves as we passed on a trail, “No fucking way!”

Awesome pics!!

So those last two pics were the same (hard to tell on a phone when selecting them).

There was a well beat down, two track trail that had some sticks in front of it. We got out and walked up the steep climb…it literally cliffed off into a couple hundred foot drop into that valley.

It looked like the whole mountainside gave way and wiped out a trail. Wild, man.

I should probably add that the rear build out has been amazing compared to just throwing shit around.

I want to figure out something quicker and easier to access than the netting, but overall it’s been great.
