What's new

37" Roxxzillas

A friend has the 4" portals on his XPT4 and he's broken 4 portal boxes so far. granted they are the Gen 2 30% boxes but he drives it like a rental. The steering is very hard too even with the Saturn Vue ESP box as well.

I can't steer with the Saturn stuff either but it is all slick rock here, not doing full hydro either, selling it. Yet to break a portal, but am hell on ring and pinions.

Early on SuperATV said they calculated it with some other assumption in there, I never understood that. Probably was bullshit?

I have the 1.3:1 (:flipoff2:) and with the ranger trans (dylan) gears my top speed on 35's is about 35 mph before the scary noises start.

Don't talk to me about bump steer.

35 mph in high range or low range? Or you just mean it sucks above 35 mph?

High gear is 35ish tops, low is 14ish, it will go faster but the transmission gear noise gets real. I have replaced every bearing in the thing, it used to be the quietest SXS ever, but that is not saying much. Buying it was a mistake, beginning to modify it a bigger one.

I’ll probably just grab some stock 5th gen 4runner wheels. I like the look and they seem cheap/plentiful enough.

That's what I have on my 3rd gen 4runner. They're 17x7 and 5" backspacing iirc. The back spacing probably won't work well with Toyota axles though.

There is also an fj cruiser steel wheel that may work.

I need to buy spacers anyway. I have non ifs axles from an 84 4runner. It’s been on the list. My rig is tiny though.

Steel might be better anyways. At least it can be sledged straight enough to hold a bead if needed.

Wheel spacers on a trail rig aren’t that bad. It does add a lot more stress, but not much can be done.

Need to air them up. The 35" is a true 35, these 37's may measure on the small side

That’s sweet. Keep us updated! That 35 mounted is also a sticky, correct?

Yes, both comp compound

They are the best tire I have ever wheeled on, tried them in snow, Baja, Rubicon, and lots of slick rock

I agree with this. They just work.

cool story time. I was wheeling at SMORR this weekend and it was super dry. First day I drove up Double Whammy, drove up the the first ledge and spun a little. I sat there and spun them a few turns to clean them off and warm them up and they hooked and I drove all the way up without slipping a tire.. :smokin:

That would be a bummer if they aren't much taller, although the 35s are tall. I parked next to a set at trail hero, they looked very even to my 38 creepy crawlers

There was a set of the pro armor 37s that looked about the same hieght near by.

That’s great news. Maybe they’ll be bigger than my 36 tsl/sx 🤷🏻‍♂️

Wasn't that the one size of tsl that was semi true to size? But, still it probably will be.
Maybe? I’ve never measured it. All I know is I’m the smallest guy out there and I still run hard trails and hang with bigger rigs. Because samurai 😂💪🏻

Don’t know shit about them yet. Friend just get them on today. Only bitching I’ve seen about them is from the typical SXS DB whining about having to get 17” wheels. This guy had the 35’s for years before now.

do they 37s measure true to size or a little small like the 32/35s? I have heard the 15" 35s measure a little truer to size but no first hand experience with them. My 14" 32s run about 1/2" short at 10# and off the machine.

this. This is the info I’m after. It makes no sense for me to go 37” if they measure closer to 35” anyway. I’d rather stick with 15” wheel. I read at least once from YotaAtieToo said the 35s were looking the same height as his 38” creepies, now the question is, what’s the actual height of the creepy. All of that said, my samurai weighs 2300# and has an 84” wheelbase and stock toys :lmao:, so small and light is what I’m after.

Just a data point, my 34” Patagonia SXT’s are 34 1/2” tall on the wheel with the weight of the SXS on them with 15 psi and are taller than some of the 35’s we’ve measured them against.

I was unaware that Patagonia made a UTV tire.. off to search

are they hard like the desert Tensors or softer like the sticky? I am guessing they are harder since the website mentions chip resistance and puncture resistance.

They are pretty soft IMO but I don’t know the durometer number. I’ve had them on a race SXS for years and have never popped a single one. I’ve broke two wheels and not yet hurt a tire
