What's new

2024 Wildfire season. :(

We’ve had a handful of smaller grass fires nearby. I worked on my defensible space today. I’m surrounded by acres of dry grass, and we’re under a red flag warning with north winds 😕.
I did my weed eating about a month ago... in three weeks, it was like I never touched it:shaking: I hit an area again on Thurs.

The conditions and stupid people thinking an unattended burn pile is a great thing never shocks me.:homer:

We’ve done the big area mowing at least three times this season, you wouldn’t known it now :shaking:. Nephew just did a couple laps around the perimeter the other day. Keeping fingers crossed 🤞🏻

I was just thinking about this thread. Air quality is shit in Las Vegas this morning. Went out side to drink my coffee and noticed smoke in the air and the smell of pinion again. It’s that time of year.

It's 11 miles north of Sandy Valley
43 acres
Says it's contained

smurfblue40 Are you safe from the Jackson fire just down the road? I know you are a bit east of Sunrise so no imminent threat.

We’re good for now. High winds, red flag warnings, and being surrounded by fuel makes me nervous. I didn’t even know about it until I went to go to my folks house in the HOA

Looks like they stalled it just east of Sunrise. Still not fully contained. Mrs was on her way home from Oregon. Apps came in handy to guide her around the roadblocks.

Fire season is about to be in full swing.

WA, Pioneer Fire, 3800 acres

So Cal, Post Fire 12k+ acre 2% contained

AZ, Riverside Fire 3 Hotshot crews, 2 Type 1 helicopters, 4 Super Scoopers, 8 Engines, and 2 Water Tenders are responding

NM, South Fork Fire, 7 Hotshot Crews ordered, a Team ordered, multiple helicopters and tankers, and a strike team of engines.

and yet Colorado State is doing a prescribed burn near Granby CO. It was hotter than hell there yesterday...

Anyone in Calaveras County affected by this one and need any help?
I'm planning on being near that area anyway and I can tow a trailer for you, or get dropped off to drive one of your shitboxes out, or provide clothing/food/water/needs for your family.

AERO fire - Copperopolis. Started around 3:30pm today and has grown to over 1,000 acres within 2 hours.
Road closed: Highway 4 from Rock Creek Road and Pool Station Road.

Evacuations in place for the following:
Rock Creek Road from Highway 4 to Hunts Valley Road
Obyrnes Ferry Road to Copper Cove
Highway 4 west to Town Square

Evacuation warning for east of Pool Station Road to Appaloosa and Bar 20.

I just heard one person was arrested for starting the Douglas fire yesterday. It was started by a unattended campfire in a homeless camp. Sadly, this is all too common in the Sacramento area anymore.

Catch and release almost certainly. Was one development over from me.
