Build 1988 Samurai Turned Buggy

These have caught my eye. 10” long on the Toyota one. But the 6” around might be hard to package.

I have had good luck with spin tech mufflers, I’ve put them on lots of crawlers where clearance is tight. That being said I’ve never put one in a Suzuki 4 cylinder.
This is there smallest option but has baffles rather then straight through like most small non-offset mufflers.

funny story.. and dont laugh. put the question into chat gbt. something like this... i want to take out the drone and and quiet down my off road buggy runny a 1.6 l open header blah blah no cab just roll cage and sheet metal. it so loud we cant talk back in forth at 2500 rpm but can talk at 750.
anyway word it something like that. and see what chat will spit out. i did that this fall for my buggy and it recommended a resonator 18 inches ahead of the the muffler. and holly chit its super nice now.

what was nice is you tell it how much room you have. for me under the seat i had 15 inches by 5 inches and it sourced a res to fit that dimensions.

Is “back pressure” real or a myth
The 8v's like a bit of back pressure until about 5500rmp. The pulling header made less torque off idle, but felt way better in the top end.
Vote for the quietest muffler you can find.

Haha Mobil1 posted the turbo too lol

Too small?

There’s lots of “Utv mufflers” on Amazon with similar shape/packaging if something like this could fit by you frontmost rear upper link mounts

I went to my local auto store and made them find me the smallest stuff they had. Ordered a Walker cat that’s 5” long off Rock Auto.

Will post pics when everything is done.

While waiting on my Walker cat to show up, been cleaning up the SD60. Decided I don’t want to be broke for a hobby I only do 3-4 times a year. So cheaping out again. :flipoff2:

Back pressure is no myth. Welded this all up, fired it up, and moved my distributor back to the original location before I pulled it (mark was still there :smokin:). Problem solved and this is going to run ten times better.

Walker cat some Xxelerator turbo muffler.

Time for ceramic coat.

Have you checked to see if your EGR valve is stuck open?

Backpressure should not cause your conditions, it can change tuning though and maybe the carb can't compensate for some reason.

Glad its running correctly now either way.

Yeah man, I replaced and cleaned everything, tested everything, it’s all like 40 pages back. Back pressure definitely messed with the ECU tuning this motor.

It sounds exactly like it did when I originally pulled it now.

What outers are you using?

What are you referring to?
