Build 09 Tacoma 3link/Vortec swap pt.2

  • sliders on
  • winch line on
  • air box lid on
  • rear shocks ordered

Decided on King’s (2.5x14”) for the rear from Accutune, so those will be about a month out.

Also, first full tank of gas netted 10.85 mpg, 90% city and the rest highway driving. It’s hard not to stomp on it around town cause it sounds so nice

Also worth noting that my air intake temps went from ~130° driving and ~170° while stopped in traffic, to ~120° driving and ~130° while in the same traffic after putting the lid on the intake… couldn’t believe it was that big of a difference. My tuner will be happy

The truck is moving! Brake lines and hydro assist lines are done, upper radiator support/cover is done, and whipped up some brake line brackets to keep the lines out of the tires and other moving parts.

I will probably tag and insure it at the end of the month, so until then I get to decide what I want to do for a front bumper (I'm still a sucker for the factory with a hidden winch), install traction bar, and search for some possibly used 14" Fox's for the rear before I buy new.

What’s your setup for doing the dimple dies?. All your fabwork looks so good nice job

Kings came in and they needed new mounts/tabs on both the hoop and axle so I decided to pull the bed and make life easier to finish those. Also while I was in there I replaced the rubber fuel lines with PTFE lined ones AND got started on a lil cage of sorts. Decided to use the roll bender and built this one a little different from my last couple, I wanted that top bar to match the body perfect. More to add....

Got the majority of the cage done. I am going to add a tube/gusset at the slider where the cage lands and tie it back into the frame rail some more. The tool box will sit in its same spot and I think the hi lift will get mounted above that on the cage (like my old truck on previous page). Gotta add some tie down points too before final paint….
