Future of 80% arms?

I wonder how that will work.

I guess maybe it won't print untraceable-3d-ghost-gun-v03.stl any more, but change the file name to happy-little-flower.stl and presto!
just a way to make it so that 3D printers won't be shippable to NY. "since the technology can't comply, you can't have new technology until it can"

like the microstamping fire pins and fingerprint safety whatevers

It won't and can't. She's just another one talking **** she knows nothing about to a group that are just as ignorant as she is.

Please!

If you want to make difference, donate to FPC or NAGR. They are winning lawsuits, overturning bad legislation. If you care put your money where your mouth is.

I think we’re a long ways as a country from banning them. Of course there’s always going to be liberal **** holes that can’t wait to violate your rights.

Wouldn’t be too hard to train an AI model on print files and have it flag any that could be a fun for a human to double-check. Eventually the human will be unnecessary too.

yeah it would, much like a milling machine 3D printers don't require any sort of external network connectivity. it'd be impossible to filter files.

Look at the trend everywhere else toward cloud computing and connected tech. All they have to do is implement a requirement that an internet connection is required. Or embed the filtering in the software. Nothing is foolproof, but it's sure as heck possible to fairly easily implement restrictions that will be a pain to work around.

Meh. Someone will write a firmware that allows airgapped functionality and offer it up online. Install with a usb stick, and you’re back in business.

So the file gets modified to include wings and other bits as camoflague that the end user removes prior to print, or after print?

Point being, where there's a will there's a way. Enough stubborn ****ers out there that will figure out a way purely out of spite.

No, you just design it at home and send it to your own printer. No network required

Edit: you'd have to have some mystery program added into the printer firmware, and that's just an impossible task for the micro processors they use

Don't buy a bamboo printer

Which is what the proposed law would legally require.

This.

Don’t by any means think I’m supporting this. I’m stating it’s easy to implement.

Obviously I fully support 🏴‍☠️

Louis Rossman is a Right-to-Repair advocate

my only gripe with this, is the abundance of other options in the market.

it's not any more out of the way to support a different company and it's well known that bambu is generally ******ed.

this is very different than, say, right to repair stuff against john deere. large market share in a less crowded market who started off with user owned and user repairable stuff and then shifted to locked down things.

And if possession of said program is a felony? And there's well publicize string operations targeting those that want to download it?
Be ahead of the curve. Have it now while it’s not illegal to get it. And hang onto for the future.

Like, save this picture just because

if you have any interest in an 80% lower. You should probably also be somewhat interested in a 0% lower. Let’s say they make it where I can’t get 80%’rs anymore.

Have a contingency plan for 0% lowers.

But also. Stock up on 80’s now if it’s not too late.

The internet will do what the internet does, and they can’t prosecute everyone.

Gracias Senor! I have neither in hard form. I’m not asking the .gov’s permission to have a picture with some chicken scratch numbers on it.
