The deal with cutting board guy was he put himself in a jam, came begging for help AND got it, then flipped for a profit at the end without compensating those that went out of their way to help him. The borrowed carb was still on it while it was for sale! Plus he talked up how he was a super mechanic and hadn't needed the help anyhow after the fact.

Profiting off the kindness and charity of others is always a bad deal. It wasn't about the flip.
I vaguely remember the story of him getting help on his way home, but didn’t realize he flipped it with the loaned carb still on it.

millions? I've heard more than one magazine person say the pay wasn't awesome... the perks (parts, builds) were the real draw.

haha yeah i wasnt going to even touch that. i bet his salary as a magazine editor was not high, probably on par with the general manager of a grocery store near his home in California.

are you dreaming? a million a year to be on motortrend shows? no chance.

AI says when he was with Hot Rod Magazine he made around $110k a year.

Iirc he was the producer and/or exec producer for a lot of those shows too.

Dunno, he may or may not have been paid well. He doesn't live like he got paid well, not that it's really a good indicator of anything.

Id guess he did pretty well, if Finnegan's rise to fame is any kind of relation.

according to the googles, he was making 110/year as a magazine editor and his current net worth is appx 1.5 million

buddy, i dont know how to tell you this but "going viral" doesnt automatically call for a big pay day. certainly not a million or millions.

Buddy, if you're using AI slop as your credible source, then we're just gonna have to agree to disagree.

My belief is that his compensation was closer to a million than it was $115k for writing and filming Roadkill, roadkill garage, engine masters, hotrod garage, and junkyard gold while having them syndicated on Discovery plus etc 18 hrs a day in addition to youtube, and running/ hosting dragweek, roadkill nights etc.

If you see it differently and think he was doing this for $10k/mo, then good for you...

a million total, or a million a year?

communist
It's not as simple as many here are trying to make it out to be. The degree to which people feel entitled to take maximum advantage of their counterparty at every available opportunity is largely a reflection of state violence shielding them from consequences.

The slimy businessman catches a bullet (though it may take him half a life of transacting in that manner to run across said bullet) in a dispute and nobody cares because of how he did business. The other businessmen do business in a way that is broadly considered agreeable or honest less they wind up like the slimy one. The violence of the state interrupts this feedback mechanism.

Wealth is made on volume, not on margin. Being maximally extractive by habit is like stealing company tools to pawn for meth money (never-mind the ******ation that the word theft brings out in exactly the sort of morons who won't understand what I'm saying here). The company, the employees and the thief's lives would all be better if the tool was where everyone expected it to be when it is needed. Slimy flipper behavior is a lot like that. Everyone, slimy flipper included, is better off if they can transact without having to invest resources into hedging against getting screwed.

Obviously all this is tangential to the motortrend cars, they seem fairly fairly priced.

it's awesome when people say "gouge", because it lets me know they are economically illiterate and have fallen for communist propaganda.

I wish Uncle Milty was still alive. we need him to tell people they are dumb and with a smile on his jovial face.
As if you're not the exact same ******ed direction brain in the other direction?

ok that maths out then.he was making a mil a year for 10 years and his current net worth is between a mil and 1.5 mil total, he has no shop, works on his cars in his driveway and needs to sell cars because storing 40 of them is killing him on fees.

where'd the rest of his money go? thats a hell of a hookers and blow problem.

That asshole was a full on crook.
We can only hope karma kicks that douchebag something good.

I remember all the people that stepped up, that nice man spent his entire day to see him through the issues.

Fellow that associated with him on this board as his friend likely cut the ties - distanced himself following that debacle

Dude has EXPENSIVE taste in car parts.

You ever seen him run China stainless headers or rebuild a carb that was on the shelf?

carb rebuild, yes.

these are all common domestic cars and parts. dude isnt restoring and working on ferraris and lambos.

a million dollars a year in car parts. give me a break.

some of y'all dumbasses still think our money is the same value of 1997 like we didn't just go through 35%-40% inflation the last 6 years.

By now each $1 earned/saved is likely worth less than $.50. Soon it will make a make shift ass wipe.

You do understand that, per-internet, magazines made wayyyyy more money than they did in the 2010s right?

Have you ever seen how much TV shows pay???? It's ridiculous. Why does everyone want to be on a reality TV show? It's 5-15k a month if you are the star with no real set costs compared to running a car show. Car shows are stupidly hard to produce since the labor is so much more incentive to actually restore something.
Net worth includes house and life insurance policies.... it doesn't mean he has $1.5m in cash.
His tiny house and garage in commiefornia is probably $1.5m. The rest is in cars/parts. :lmao:

Look, I'm happy he's doing what he wants to do in retirement. I hope he finishes every project he has the parts for, but I also understand that most of his content isn't for broke people like me. Carry on.

Freiburger being in the industry did well with all of the connections, vendor freebies and hook ups and such.

Still has access to some of that.
Being on YT gives him and even bigger access to parts/vehicles/etc - world wide exposure if you will.

As far as his financials, hope he is doing well. He is/has put in the work over the years.

I don't believe he's getting anything less than a very steep discount on any of the new parts if they're not free/ fell off the truck buddy hookups. but the OEM/NOS/ rare original mopar **** is jaw dropping expensive, although i imagine he gets a break on some of it from sack rider fanboys.
