This project started when my kids wanted to start going wheeling with us and I wanted them to be safe and comfortable. I have never seen this done before and wanted to share it. you do need full width axles to make this work.

I started with cutting out the desired width of the inner fenders for the seats I had planned

The frame does come up above the tub so I had to notch a section of the frame.

I then took the notched section cut the sides off of it and flattened it.
jp13.jpg

Then welded the piece back into the notched section of the frame
jp18.jpg

Then began the sheet metal work of building the new inner fenders
jp10.jpg
jp14.jpg

After the new inner fenders then came building the seat frame that are bolted down in the factory bolt holes for the bench seat and mounting the seats
jp2.jpg

I then welded in a harness bar behind the seats for the rear buckets just above the fuel cell, and one for the front seat harnesses as well. I will say I was shocked at the amount of leg room that is there. two adults could ride all day comfortably in the back.

Thanks for reading, I'll be happy to answer any questions.

More ideas. Some of the photos are probably dead.

When you cut the frame, was the inside 'surface' rusty?
