Scissor lift trailer

That’s kind of what I’ve decided. Those are harder to find around here, though. The little single axles are everywhere, or big 26 footers.
 
All I can add is don't use your dump trailer.:lmao:

I did and one time it was damp from the fog. Went on one hell of a ride. :laughing::lmao::homer:

See, it couldn't climb the ramps, so, when I'd load it I'd tilt the bed for the right angle. All was good till it wasn't. :eek::lmao:


I still crack up thinking about my ride off the back of the trailer while still "driving" forward spinning the whole way. :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:
 
Anybody ever tried driving a scissor lift up a trailer with a fancy Blackwood lumber deck? It seems like a good thing but I’ve never actually messed with the stuff.

That's the grip tape looking stuff?

I was thinking that would probably be perfect for those type of tires.

Had the blackwood lumber on my diamond C gooseneck before my current one, it was pretty cool. Lots more grip than steel and seemed to hold up a lot better than the straight wood decks.

Switched to a hydraulic dove for the my big trailer and ill never look back. Dovetails just drag on everything, the slope into my shop is marred to **** from the bottom of the tails of trailers.

but to keep this somewhat on track, i agree with BUCKLAND the 16' is the ticket as it can wear more hats than the single axle trailer

That’s where I’m at. One of the local places is supposed to be getting me a price on a 16’ load trail with Blackwood deck this morning. I’d hoped to get this done this week but that’s looking unlikely.

I can’t figure out why the 14-18’ tandem tilts aren’t more common.

The local lots carry the 20' tandem tilts, 16' with 4' front deck. Most of the 14-16' on the lots are ramp trailers.
 
Trailer got in and we picked it up last week. My dad used it hauling a gator behind his motorhome last week and I finally put a scissor lift on it today. I like it.

The spare tire mount seems like something that’s going to crack or split eventually but what do I know. It has a three year structural warranty so they’ve got some amount of faith in it.

I don’t like that the jack hangs down that low when fully retracted. I may drill some holes to mount it higher, but maybe it’s not really a problem that close to the hitch. Who knows? It’s not the first trailer they ever built

It hangs down because the drop leg handle needs to clear the frame. Although you almost don't need it with it that low.

TOPHAT trailer

Tie down locations are horse ****., I added new d rings in the corners.
Brakes didn't work new.
Spare tire bracket cracked...
Tilt pins sucked, had to remove pin and reinstall each time x2 I converted to spring pin
I added storage box on front for chains/boomers and a Warn 4k receiver winch for dead lift recovery, as well as receiver for winch on trailer deck.

I looked at a TopHat and didn’t come away with a favorable impression. Despite my complaining, I’m pretty happy with the LoadTrail. The only other tilt trailer I’ve used is a PJ, and I’ve gone on record in here before about how it sucks. The locking mechanism on the LoadTrail is a lot better. No comparison on the wiring.

That thing looks beefy for a 16', from pictures much better built than my 16' summit. And i abuse that poor trailer.

My spare tire mount was in one of the stake pockets, the story i got told by my delivery drive was he hit a bump and the whole assembly went "ejecto seato cuz" into a drainage ditch :homer:

We ended up welding a mount the front part of the frame that doesn't tilt.

Today was the first time I hauled two 26 footers at the same time. 4,600 and 4,700 pounds. That’s probably as heavy as it will ever need to go and it did just fine.
