Still in planning stage, but am looking to install some PRP recline seats in my ex-cab Tacoma (98). Looking for bracket ideas. I need to keep the height down (interior cage), but still need them to slide.

Is my best bet to just use the factory slides and some tabs to the seat tabs, or cut/redo the mounts on the seats?
Options/opinions?

Corbeau makes seat brackets and sliders for the Tacoma, I am running them in the 4runner with their reclining seats. Seat height is very close to stock. I'd be curious if PRPs mounted to them without modification.

PRP used to make (still does?) mounts for the tacoma. They appeared taller than stock mounts, but over all, the seat cushion is lower (on Daily Drivers).

I hadn’t looked at corbeau. Will give them a look. Would rather have stock style sliders and not super tall. Modifying the prp mounts wouldn’t be too hard.

I haven’t been able to find PRP brackets. When I asked them about them at ejs 2 years ago, they sent me to (IIRC) motobilt…. Who made mounts, but not for Toyotas.

Here's a pic I have of the PRP brackets and DD's in my reg cab Tacoma. I will mention that the PRP brackets fit like **** (holes were nowhere near matching up to the floor). I began to install a 4xinnovations cage but ultimately removed it because there just wasn't enough headroom and you'd hit your head every time on it (I'm 5'8").

Here is the cage with factory seats installed.

that's a bummer. I just sold my PRP DD's and mounts a few months ago. Went back to stock. Getting in and out of the DD's was a PITA, and I could never get the seating position comfortable.

I pretty much did the same. The PRP’S were hella comfy but yes, a pain to get in and out of. Swapped them out for stock civic SI seats…..

Also a recommendation, get tweed or whatever breathable fabric they offer for the centers of the seats at the least, cause the swamp ass/back is real on a vinyl seat lol

A few pics of my setup are in here.

chays2464 just put prp's in his 1st gen tacoma.

You guys pulling "nice" seats for stock seats get a chance to wheel the truck before you sold the nice seats? I did the same thing years ago with some corbeaus, the bolster side was ridiculous for something driven on the street often.

Now I have a dedicated trail rig with a similar lower end corbeau and I can't believe how much nicer it is on the trail. We did a 2 week trip to rubicon/Fordyce/other similar trials. We wheeled or drove the rig almost every single day and never felt sore or beat up. Even with leafs and cheap shocks. My other rigs I always felt beat up after a day on the trail with stock seats. We kinda figured it was a combination of being suspension seat and your upper body being secure with the bolster and harness and not having to subconsciously work your core all day to keep it upright.

In the near future, I think I'm going to spring for a pair of heated and cooled prp's for us. It's ******ed money, but it's the one thing your touching the whole time and we spend dumb money on these toys already

My PRP's were def better on the body for the longer wheeling trips. I would have liked mine more if they had slightly shorter bolsters, reclined and had breathable center fabric, which is ultimately why I switched back....

I will add that I flopped my truck twice when I had the PRP's and they definitely keep your ass planted in them nicely. Dedicated trail rig, I'd def have em again

I have a mixture of seats in my rigs. My flatty has some aftermarket quadratech seats, and they kinda suck. They are new, and not worn in yet, so thats most of it.
My comp rig has suspension PRP's and I can wheel it all day, and they are super comfortable.
My crawler has the stock Toyota seats, and after a day of wheeling, I'm worn out. My DC Tacoma currently has stock seats (one of the ones I want to upgrade seats in). We put 1K+ miles on it in a weekend, almost every weekend during the summer, and I have started getting cramps in my knees due to the way I sit in the seats. I am looking at the reclining low bolster endurotrail PRP's. I don't really need the heat/cooled version, but I am getting old and fragile, so it has been a consideration.
I have 2 sets of their comp seats sitting in the garage, but the side bolsters for a small cab, DD rig don't work too well together.

:EDIT: was thinking Daily Drivers, but actually their reclining Enduro Trail. A slight bolster on the seat to keep you from sliding around, and same on the back. Just a little shape to keep you in place, but not so much that you can't get in and out of them.

Would yall put aftermarket seats like these in a daily driver? My 3rd gen 4Runner is pushing 300k miles and the seat foams are pretty worn out, even though the fabric is in great shape. High bolsters and weird seating positions has made me a little hesitant to throw a bunch of cash at seats but the right set would make it so much more comfortable to spend all day driving. My wife will absolutely hate seats that are harder to get in and out of, but she’d love seat heaters.

I want to put some enduros like mabric posted in my 3rd 4runner. I don't see them being harder to in and out of than stock. They do get expensive when you add a few options though.

The enduros have a couple options. They are a reclining seat, so there is some adjustment too. The Classic is more like a stock seat, the trail has a little more side bolster, but not as much on the bottom. The crawl has more bolster on the side and bottom.

For my DC, I’m looking for a little more support while bouncing around 2-tracks and rutted roads, but also easy in/out due to smaller door opening. My truck is taller than stock, so I usually slide of the seat when exiting, so I need low bolsters.

My thought is that I'm going to have to sit in a set of seats before I spend $1000+ on the pair. Koh is probably the best bet, but just finding other guys with them could work also.

PRP was at one of the events I was at last year and had a couple of the enduro options set up on stands. I’m with you, I kinda want to find a set installed to actually sit in them in a vehicle before I drop the money on them.

Bump, because

These seats are gonna be awesome when I figure out how to make these **** tier Tacoma mounts fit my 3rd gen 4Runner. Evidently the floor is slightly different with 4Runners and these aren’t a direct bolt in. Which is fine because my head rubs the headliner with how tall these mounts are.

If I can find some usable factory adjusters/mounts I might try to sendcutsend my own version of those solo tabs. Anyone know how much height they add?

Oh and has anyone got a clever idea for making the factory seatbelt latch fit these mounts?
