What's new

Who knows about buying H1's ?

Just thought of something with the engine and trans swap talk. HMMMVVVV's don't have a park. Just the e brake. At least the early one I had. FWIW.
What year? The ones I am around all have park in the trannys and e-brakes too.

Did they ever fix the e-brake dragging issue?

We had problems with the e-brakes not fully disengaging. We discovered this one night playing follow the leader through the forest on Fort Lewis. The drivers were wearing NVGs. I noticed a glow under the truck in front of me and told my Sargent. When we stopped, the e-brake was to hot it caused the plastic near it to start melting
Possibly? The 300ks I work with have standalone ebrake calipers. Service brakes are 4 piston aluminum wilwoods.

It may be poor recollection on my part but I would swear I heard this: They reduced the padding thickness in all of the seat cushioning to make it more uncomfortable to drive at higher rates of speed as the troops doing the shakeout validations were "driving too fast"

Again, it might not be accurate, but I can absolutely see that conversation happening at the procurement debriefs.

Not unheard of in the private sector. My dad was a short haul trucker of various forms for most of his life. Back when he was driving bobtail trucks in the oilfield, the company bought a new fleet of trucks with air ride cabs. They rode nice. So nice in fact that the drivers were trashing the trucks because they didn't feel the rig roads the way they did without the air ride cabs. The company quickly converted all the new trucks to non air ride cabs to help preserve the trucks from the super truckers.

This happened to fall into my lap for the right price. I had a set of 40s laying around so I mounted them.

Dude that is very cool.

I wish it was more drivable by your average person as I think they would do well in my area as rentals.
My boss drove his in to work a couple weeks ago, parked it next to my JK and made it look comically small in comparison. We went to lunch that day and I had to drive myself because I flat out can't get in the H1. Both he and his wife struggle to get in and out of it. He's a little shorter and less heavy than I am, she's average white lady sized.

Old school BAD wheels. What a throwback.
They look slightly complicated, but they were DOT legal. And a friend was trying to sell them and gave me a good price on them. I’ve got to get the rear adjusted as the weight on the rear doesn’t match whatever this was originally attended for. It rides hard on the outside of the wheel.

I was 100% ok if you wanted to borrow it and see how it went over. I also understand it has to work with an average person and this thing probably has more quirks than I know about yet. I was actually really surprised when my wife said she loved it (was mad I got it until I took her out last night in it). It’s perfect for having a bunch of friends and just cruising backroads. A nice little stereo setup and away you go. Nothing fancy, just enjoying the short time we are given on Earth.

I think that's highly over blown.

GIs in full kit rode around the middle east for years at a time. There is room.

We ripped out the rear seat backs and the front seat padding to fit in them and they were still cramped and crowded. It was fun steering them in full kit. The turret gunner had the most room standing up in the turret but was also the most exposed...

i have never heard that, i may play with mine this evening.
Yeah, you have to 2-foot it to make them work well.

Hold the throttle and brake, release brake to move.

Old school vid for your viewing pleasure.

They (I) sure hated it though.:flipoff2:

Never underestimate TACOMs hatred for the comfort of the troops.
