When will Gen X step up to POTUS?

A lot of people throw out the term boomer not knowing exactly how old that group is. They are 60-78 years old. Born between 1946 and 1964. Being born in 1946, Trump is an old boomer, and Biden is from the silent generation.

The other thing is, a lot of the "early" Gen Xers are far more relatable to boomers than later born Gen Xers.

Me for instance. I definitely fall closer to being a boomer than Gen X.

Thank you

This, at 40, I much more closely relate to Gen X than Millenials,
My dad was 1st year of "baby boomers" born in 46', he related more to silent generation than "boomers"

I turned out to be a weird bastard...1/4 silent generation, 1/4 baby boomer, 1/4 gen x, 1/4 millennial

As long as you accept the categories that the government puts YOU IN things will never change.
Most that use the categories have been duped by the government, Are you one of the duped?
I see those that have been duped in this post. Too many people that are still sleeping just the way government wants.
It is the boomers fault, It is the genx fault, It is the millennials fault , It's like the race baiting thing that the government does.
Everyone is in this shit together.

Like it or not and the government will do whatever it takes to create division between everyone so they stay in power.
If the government stayed out of race baiting almost everyone would get along together.
Do you think when you are born that you hate other races?
If you do you ARE the problem.
We are taught that other races are bad by the government.

Social Security does need to end. It should have never been created in the first place.
"But I paid into it"
I’d rather have the $200 they steal from me every 2 weeks.

I got like 27 years left to “collect”. That’s a total of roughly $140,000. Pretty sure I could do more with it and even if I couldn’t it’s still MY money.

I agree with all above, I use my 401k and other retirement plans.
My ss is just extra $ that I put away for my Grandkids for their future.
And it is not just you that they take the money from, Your employer also gets to contribute for you.
That's double fucking wrong. Social Security was the start of trying to make the United States a socialist country.
And by the looks of all the handouts it is becoming a socialist country.

You sound like those Bernie bro's who were going to start a revolution instead of getting jobs.

This country is awesome. The Constitution of the United States is awesome. I am all for trimming back government overreach, the recent Chevron deference case in SCOTUS is a huge win. I think you think it is as simple as tearing down an old house and starting over, but it's not. Not to insult your intelligence but a country is a complex system of systems. Nothing good will come from wrecking it overnight.

Look at the show Clarkson's Farm. He has single handedly highlighted how bad overregulation is for farmers in the UK. A lot of people are waking up to just how bad the regulatory environment is in many places. Those administrative states were not built overnight and they won't be removed overnight in most cases.

Problem is trimming it back isn't going to work either.

Just look at anytime cutting Medicare/Medicaid/SS is discussed. Or food stamps. Or even corporate welfare for that matter.

Gen X here, 80% + - of the people on this board wouldnt be here if it wasnt for baby boomers. :lmao:
in that case, let's elect boomers forever! :shaking:
I can’t believe DeSantis didn’t have a better run. He was pretty universally liked here with Covid and the hurricane responses. “Problem” is he’s not your typical schmoozing politicians staging photo shoots, he legitimately seems to want to work.

The primaries seemed to come at the same time as the (their label, not mine) “don’t say gay” bill peaked. Basically, preventing teachers from telling 1st graders about man on man butt sex means you are a fascist.
He focused almost entirely on culture war stuff instead of "it's the economy, stupid." Focus on what affects everyone, and you'll get everyone's attention.

I'm at the tail end of Gen-X, whereas my brother and sisters are technically the tail end of the Boomers generation. We're very different people, especially when technology is involved.

LOL...didn't even think about that, I was just thinking culturally.

Pretty much hate technology and could do without it, but I use it every day.

Biggest thing I would like to get rid of is cell phones. I still long for the days of not being immediately available to anyone 24/7. And we all survived.

I have a classic love/hate relationship with the phone. I'm sitting in my living room surfing my favorite forum right now with it. An hour ago I used it to pull a code off the wife's Tahoe. I can quickly and discretely text while at work and talk to wife (or whoever) without having to stop everything and walk 1/4 mile to the break area and use a payphone. It fits in my pocket and holds all the information of the world. It has a camera on it that would have cost $3000 in Y2K.

And I'm on it too much. If I forget it somewhere I have a minor panic attack. Everyone has access to me 24/7/365. I'm on it too much. It is a cheap rechargeable heroin delivery system and apparently I'm a 90's grunge singer from Seattle.

and just think, no one younger than you can remember a time when there wasn't a phone on your person 24/7.

we're doomed.

Even back when it was just a phone, it wasn't too bad. 2005 razr that was a PITA to text on... I'd send/ recieve maybe 3 texts a week.

--- me at work ---

'wat 4 supper'

2 hours later
'pizza'

3.5 hours later
'k'

Exactly...my largest customer has a requirement that someone is available 24/7/365. I can understand in the winter with snow, but seriously, what is that huge of an emergency in a landscape during the rest of the season?

And the call has to be returned within 15 minutes.

Give me my money back right now, hell without interest... and turn it off.
Start offering a major tax break(or something) to those who decide not to draw at a certain point in time before they are able to draw,
meanwhile phasing out new entrants past a certain birth year.

Make the tax break from cuts elsewhere, not printed $.

Yep its a super weird thought that I have a lot in regards to my kids and their generation.

government is the single most evil thing I deal with on a daily basis.
There's no scaling this monster back to what it should be at this point.
so the only way we're getting there is burn it all down, have the ideological fight, and make sure that the commies don't fucking win.

That all sounds good if you're the main character, but what if this is as good as it gets? Start boogaloo2, and the ATF and TSA end up running the show.
We glorify the Rebels over the Empire, but Johnny Reb loses all the time IRL.

I didn't say it sounded good.

I said it was the only way it was ever going to happen.

I didn't "give" a fucking red cent to the .gov!:mad3:

They stole it!:mad3:

:flipoff2:
In a word, BULLSHIT. COTUS grants congress the right to levy taxes. Face facts, you have zero clue WTF you're yammering about.

In the United States, Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution gives Congress the power to "lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States.

And that's social security?

By law you are obligated to pay taxes, incl SS. However, as a citizen, you are also obligated to support any reduction and limitation of tax obligations.

Bitchin about paying taxes while not doing what you can to get them eliminated is just childish.
