Title basically states it.

I'm looking for a good whiskey to drink without ice, shooting, or as a mixer.

My current go to is Woodford Double Oak at about $50 for 750ml(~2 years ago). I'm looking for something better and if it costs a bit more, so be it.

What do you got?

Woodford is my favorite. Had one bottle that was weird but I think I picked up the rye without noticing and was a noob back then.

Brothers bond is really good for the price too. Picked up their single barrel and it's delicious.

The one bottle of eagle rare I had was good to but too hard to find around here and expensive when you can.

Bourbon.
Any Pappys
4 roses
Makers # batch
Buffalo trace
Most small batch offerings work.
Jefferson's reserve
angels' envy

I'll be back to add some as I remember em.

I live in Bourbon central and find Very Old Bartons 80 to be best drinking day in day out. Woodford Reserve is very nice. Buffalo Trace is good too.

I can’t do whiskey/hard stuff anymore. Burns my gut for days. From 21-22 I drank 110 bottles of Rebel Yell. :barf:

But I really like Jack Daniels Single Barrel. I’m not fancy, and didn’t realize whiskey drinkers had such sophisticated palettes. :flipoff2:

Reading through it seems most are using price as an indicator of "good". Smooth, to me, is in lower proof.

Evan Williams Bottled-In-Bond 100 proof is my daily, at $29 for 1.75L. I also really think Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage is a way better sipping whiskey than its price point in the mid-$20s for 750ml.

I think smooth is in the drinker.

I was drinking one night with a guy who thought he was a cowboy. I poured a couple fingers worth of Single Barrel and sipped it. He thought it tasted like straight gasoline.

My go to's are Canadian Club 12 year which is shockingly good:

And Forty Creek Confederation Oak Reserve:

I've made a point of trying a new whiskey every time I go to the store for a new bottle, the last two kinda sucked though lol one was the wayne gretzky one, it's okish, the other was some single barrel I can't remember the name but not pleasant.
