What's burning up XJ edition ?

From a friend:

Any XJ Cherokee guru's out there? I burnt up 3 computers already. Been pulling relays and fuses trying to find out why. This "whatever it is" inside the computer is fried on each of them. Runs good for 1 to 2 hours before it costs another PCM.

Q: What dies? The entire Jeep, or something independent?
A: No start, all gauges die. No bus
