so, im trying to figure out new things and places to go with my kids. what are the cool things to do in your area? im talking outdoors, hiking, exploring, mountains, desert adventures. everyone knows where all the amusement parks are. not neccesarily tourist shit, but anything that is cool.

Haven’t spent any time in the north east or East Coast. Never been to Tennessee or those areas around it.

Colorado has mountains, Arizona Nevada has desert to play in, I’m just trying to figure out cool new places to take my kids. Not necessarily needing to spend $4000 for a weekend at some super Duper touristy shit but if that’s what your state has throw it out there.

Any historical towns around you? Fishing? Reenactment stuff that is done in period dress?

Work, complain about the highest gas prices in the country, complain about the crumbling roads (allegedly maintained by the gas taxes ), complain about once beautiful cities gone to shit from “progressive” policies, etc… etc…

But, I can ski and surf in the same day:flipoff2:

I’m not telling everyone about the real good stuff :grinpimp:

.22's and kids are big fun. Couple rifles, some steel targets that swing, spin or ping, outdoor lunch of grilled burgers or dogs, an easy up, makes for a good family day.

Made ya look....

The Outer Banks are cool but a real bitch to get to. I'd go SC if you're wanting cool laid back beaches. They have some awesome state parks. Huntington, Edisto, Hinton Island. The cool shit in NC is basically the mountains and the Outer Banks.

Missouri has fat people watching at walmart.

That and getting drunk. Other than that it's pretty boring. Nobody vacations here by choice.

According to the majority aging population, sit inside the AC and do nothing.

As far as outdoors:
  • mountain biking
  • fishing
  • boating
  • beach and ocean stuff
  • run from gators
  • kayak, swim, and dive in the natural springs. Sometimes with the gators
  • watch SpaceX dunk on NASA, Boeing and Blue Origin
  • people watching
  • tweaker watching
  • tourist watching
  • gator watching swamp tours
  • Hurricane watching
  • If you hate yourself and your wallet, the theme parks; one or two may even have a thrill ride.
  • Saint Augustine for historical stuff. The fort is cool. The "old" town next to it is a tourist trap on par with the Mouse.

I'd kill to be able to do activities that involve real elevation change though.

Most states have dirt tracks and small oval tracks. Lots of towns have free concert nights during the summer. Local artisans (glass blowers, blacksmiths, and the like) sometimes do demo nights.

SE Florida here. There is a lot of low budget entertainment to be had.
Beaches are usually high on the list. Kayaking/canoeing in both salt and fresh water. A lot of local parks near inshore saltwater have paddle board in kiosks for rent with nothing more than an app. Snorkeling with tons of sea life to gawk at. If diving is your thing even more options open up.
There are a few decent mountain biking trails, at least well built for the lack of terrain.
Fishing from shore or a pier can be done fairly cheap and provide a meal or two. Charter a boat and head offshore if you want to spend a few bucks. A few local restaurants will cook your catch if you don’t want to grab a bag of charcoal and head to a park to grill it at the picnic area.
Hit up mudfest or some similar event if you want to watch swamp buggies with truck shells do entertaining things.

No surfing and skiing but wheeled Fordyce Thurs -Friday, took the boat out Sunday. Fordyce is 40 mins to the trailhead and 7 to the boat ramp.

:homer: As long as I'm not down in the 'city', I miss all the liberal stuff.:emb: I haven't been below Auburn or Placerville in probably 18 months now:eek:
We only do “city” if we absolutely have to, but sometimes some of it will find it’s way out to our edge of the county 😠

Morman cricket fights!!!!! Not the cleanest way to have fun but......
We had a huge every so many years cicadas population this year. Noisy bastards

Nothing in this state for fun, it sucks stay away.

I'll second that. Though there seems to be some decent wheeling in the southern half.

Should see NYC once. Not like normal tourist stuff but just wander around all day looking at buildings, bridges, subways, and crazy people. Hot dog cart and pizza. Random bar in some back alley. Construction site with some of the biggest steel you'll ever see. (Not much going on currently) Intrepid is cool. Museum of natural history.

Upstate has some nice parks, lakes, rivers and land that makes it such a shame the place is poisoned.

I'll guess that's worse than these swarms.

Do cicadas cause accidents and shut down freeways?
