Between the output of the trans and the input of the transfer case.

Ram 3500.

Where the two come together it's void of any lubricating material.

Seal in the end if the trans and in the fron the transfer case.

What would be the go to.

I looked around a bit and it's all over the place on what oughtta be on the splines.

Thanks.

Personally, I'd use synthetic grease and call it done. Those splines shouldn't have much clearance, if they do then you've got other problems than lack of lube. Ideally, there won't be any movement anyway and the lube should just be there to keep it from getting stuck when you pull it someday.

What does the factory do?

I'm in the same boat on my 6l90 to tc. To be honest, I hadn't even thought about it. Glad this thread came up.

You shouldn’t need anything on spline. They’re ‘lubricated’ by transmission’s fluid. Transmission’s output seal actually ride on t-case’s input shaft OD.

IMHO, a standard fluid fill in a manual trans won't flood the coupling. Centrifugal action won't allow splash lube. Factory doesn't care about dry splines because it outlasts warranty.

I'll use my moly slip. :homer:

i had a daily driver toyota dual case coupler strip out due to fretting which is why i now like the moly

anti seize was also recommended by marlin
