Welding Gauges

Victor Regulator came a day early!
Also bought a Q auto weld cylinder from Peavy Mart (TSC Basically)… $501 taxes in ouch!

$107 plus tax to fill a Q (80cf)
At least now I own the cylinder. I have probably 9lbs of fluxcore left but it is what it is, it’s not junk but it will go into safe storage for when I inevitably run out of auto weld 😜

Dang I just grabbed an S tank filled with argon for $450 including taxes from the local welding store.

I forgot to mention… I got the store to match the sale price from two weeks ago… $337! Full pop is $420! Plus the $107! Nuckin Futs!

As a side note, is welding wire welding wire?

I can order Firepower wire through work... but it was several days away. I needed nozzles for my machine anyway so I went to the LWS and grabbed nozzles and 12lbs of 030 wire. It's Linde branded, I could have likely saved $20-25 getting the work stuff but maybe there is a difference I don't understand?

You can sometimes tell the difference between chinese and us made wire. The chinese stuff is dirty and wears out liners and nozzles faster, plus it seems more likely to come cross wound and jam up unspooling

I haven’t noticed much difference between manufacturers. Haven’t tried much off brand wire though. Linde is a big name and they probably have good products

Plus if you have a hydroponic store or fire supply store CO2 is super cheap. My hydroponic store doesn’t even care about dates so I don’t have to stamp the tanks with fake cert dates...
This means they’re charging you for a recertification on every tank. It’s an easier way for them to operate because they don’t have to inspect tanks.

Not the hydroponic store in Placerville constantly growing they fill up my tanks it's like $2 a pound or something.

So it’s $40-45 for a 20 lb tank? Yeah that’s what my homebrew shop charges and they’ve told me it includes certification.

I don't think it was that much so I just called them and they no longer fill tanks so that sucks, so who knows.
I guess I have to get my stamp set out and certify my tanks.
