Since I’m lazy plz linkRead the fucking thread we have on this exact subject you lazy motherfucker.
Since we are on the subject of my buying crap. I want to upgrade my cheap auto darkening solar hood. It’s a princess auto special… it was $75 back in the day. When I’m welding in the container I am getting flashed. It’s easily 15 years old and I only have one set of eyes… so I need to stop being a cheap ass with some tooling.
$300 USD and under recommendations? Some limp wristed admin silenced me on some BoomerBook post I made on a welding page
Esab Sentinel got some praise… I can source it through work if I increase my budget
Since I have always welded outside prior to the shipping container you might be onto something here? The inside walls are all a nice crisp white colour? But something I didn’t think of. I found closing my eyes and striking helped but it’s not ideal because I am not a good welderIf you're welding in a container and getting flashed, chances are you're not getting flashed through the front of the hood. There's a good possibility you're catching ricochets of UV off shit around you.
I figured it out, I searched welding hood last week and came up with 1-2 year old results. I see now I needed to search for a 🪖It's only on the 2nd page. Find it yourself.
I hope I die before I get this old.I figured it out, I searched welding hood last week and came up with 1-2 year old results. I see now I needed to search for a 🪖

At least nobody was talking about regulators… me thinks you just like busting my nuts which is a-okay. Nobody posts anywhere else except for shit chat so we need to keep these subs alive!
I have two failed ones on the shelf...how?
....it is a flow meter
edit:
30 years of doing it every day, I have never had one of these fail ....ever
Yeah I read that yesterday after I changed some terms around. Good info in that threadWelding Helmet: Pipeliner w/ AD lens vs $$$ ?
Need some help from experts on welding helmets. Bought my own welders (primeweld M180 & tig 225) and starting to buy gear for working on jeeps, house projects, etc. I'm neck deep on internet searching and think I've narrowed it down to ESAB A50, speedglass 100 or 9002NC, lincoln 3350 or miller...irate4x4.com
Last bumped earlier this month.
check your local welding supplierAny one have a line on Victor repair parts?
I know the guy but the last time I had one rebuilt it damn near cost what a complete knock off set cost.check your local welding supplier

if you know how to do it, more power to youI know the guy but the last time I had one rebuilt it damn near cost what a complete knock off set cost.
Not saying good shit isn't worth it but I change springs and diaphragms myself for $20...
noDoes no one else have issues with welding gauges just appearing with no idea from where? I think I ended up with 6-7 argon regs at one point, no idea where most of them came from
I do but I know where they came from, my pops was always dropping off old equipment from his former employer who literally closed shop after 47 years, liquidated some but gave just as much stuff to my dad.Does no one else have issues with welding gauges just appearing with no idea from where? eBay. YouTube your regulator. I rebuilt the 2 at my old job. Super simple. There is a small o ring that goes bad and causes problems. It’s very common. I found out the difference between regulators 350/450 or whatever series are the diaphragm is rubber in the lower class and metal in the upper class.Any one have a line on Victor repair parts?
The dude at this place is super responsive. He couldn't get a kit for my "medalist" Victor flow meter but I am gonna check in with him on another one.I have this shop looking into getting a kit for one of my flowmeters that is leaking.

I tried that on this flow meter but it turns out to be a re-badged unit so maybe there are other options.eBay. YouTube your regulator. I rebuilt the 2 at my old job. Super simple. Ordered this one just now from Amazon. Local welding supply was $20 cheaper but it was a Chiner ProStar unit that Linde offers.Victor gauges I purchased with a 10 ft hose
VICTOR Flowmeter Regulator for Argon, Argon/CO2 and Helium. For TIG and MIG Welders, Model: GRF400-581 with 10 Feet Hose
At those sizes I have to lease them locally. I can’t own them. I haven’t checked out the leasing cost per year if I went that route… I just hate the idea of not owning somethingI went to a 150 bottle. After looking at the math for how fast an 80 runs out, and how long a 12 pound of 0.035 wire lasts I didn’t want to get a new bottle every 4 hours. The up front cost sucks, but the refills make up for it and the bottle isn’t much more of a problem fitting places. It will still fit on a harbor freight cart. It’s just about as heavy as I’d want to carry out of a truck filled.
Sounds like some bullshit to me, but I don’t know where you live. I bought a used bottle off Craigslist And swapped it. By the time it was all said and done I saved maybe $20. i Don’t think this will help you if they ONLY lease bottles bigger than an 80.At those sizes I have to lease them locally. I can’t own them. Plus if you have a hydroponic store or fire supply store CO2 is super cheap. My hydroponic store doesn’t even care about dates so I don’t have to stamp the tanks with fake cert dates..."for serious, bro"
because it is extremely cheap and stores as a liquid in the bottle rather than as a high pressure gas
