I think the I need to finally give up on fluxcore. What’s a good brand of gauges worth looking at? I know nothing about them… but will any old thing do? The gas isn’t cheap and I’m assuming I don’t want these things leaking so… fire away

I bought victor gauges. I think it's what my welding class used. I wouldn't be able to tell you a difference between these and harbor freight.

in 30 years, they will still work

I have been running the same sat since the 90's
and I run hand-me-downs that who knows how old they are, still going. and I run gas almost every day in one form or another

when they do get sticky, you can easily send them in for a rebuild

scored a bunch of them off of job sites that were physically broken in the trash, I would bring them home and send them in for parts, come back brand new condition :smokin:

airco double diaphragm :flipoff2:

or just whatever trash is on ebay, it ain't that difficult
get the cga320 one for co2, it is way cheaper for way more gas

Victor or nothing at my shop

and turn your bottles off like you were just told

Yup, same for me Victor or nothing.

I have a set of Victor dual diaphragm regulators I bought used in the late 60s. I had them rebuilt last year, regulators built in the late 50s and still had parts for them. I have 7 Victor regulators and 2 Victor flow meters.

how?
....it is a flow meter :grinpimp:

edit:
30 years of doing it every day, I have never had one of these fail ....ever
I’m not complaining. It’s in my Amazon cart. Just waiting for that Christmas bonus. A Q sized cylinder of gas is $320 here on sale at the moment

And watch FB or CL for used bottles. I see them going for $100 regularly.

maybe I read that wrong

I got the tine that you were hesitant because it was 'fancy'

..never had one fail, I was trying the give a little confidence :grinpimp:

I should have added more to my
Post than I did, just got busy and hit send. I was going to say fancy… something like this?

I answered my own question

I have to be careful with that here. Suppliers do not fill tanks. If I bought a power tank brand new, none of the distributors would fill it. TSC/Peavy Mart will likely be my go to as they are open 7 days a week. Price be damned…

The stupid thing is Praxair won’t swap TSC tanks. And praxair supplies these tanks to them. If I wanted to buy a huge bottle I have to lease it

Flap wheel (doesn't leave as obvious grinder marks) the neck and paint the whole top 6" of the cylinder a safety color.

Since we are on the subject of my buying crap. I want to upgrade my cheap auto darkening solar hood. It’s a princess auto special… it was $75 back in the day. When I’m welding in the container I am getting flashed. It’s easily 15 years old and I only have one set of eyes… so I need to stop being a cheap ass with some tooling.

$300 USD and under recommendations? Some limp wristed admin silenced me on some BoomerBook post I made on a welding page

Esab Sentinel got some praise… I can source it through work if I increase my budget
