I think the Evo is a red headed step child from a seedy cocktail lounge Warn doesn't like admitting they have. I've found diagrams for 3, 5 and 7 wire, but hardly any info on the 4. All replacement controllers or cables are discontinued or out of stock. I did find that I'm eligible for a $100 recall rebate and I found a guy in Montana who still has some parts that I plan on calling.Warn's site usually has guides online, does this help?:
If not, then here's the link to the product page where there are more manuals:

Would it be possible to bypass the circuit board and just have a in and out full voltage signal?
Thread I found that explains the wiring and how to wire it for in cab and wireless control.
It sounds like the remote and microprocessor are actually paired at the factory so I don't know if you could use another controller.
Warn EVO series 4-pin remote wiring (SOLVED)
I picked up an EVO 10-S assuming it used the newer 5-pin wiring, and it's actually only 4. I can't find any info on the 4 wire setup and no combination...www.tacomaworld.com
I found a replacement cable for $40 to solve my problem for now.
ugh ?Holy shit that's stupid if it's true for the wired connection.
A friend of mine bought one too....now I'm going to have to experiment with swapping wired remote to see what happens.
Did you register the winch when you bought it?
There is a recall on the batteries in the original remote and maybe Warn hooked you up?
The VR EVO Remote Recall: What You Need To Know
The remote for the WARN VR EVO's remote has been recalled. Here's what to do.www.warn.com
I think the pairing of the remote might have more to do with the wireless feature.
I know that when I finally found parts to replace the hand control, and not just the cable, it came with a board to swap out inside the winch.
ugh ?
You just need to send 12v to the blue or yellow wires on the solenoid. Easiest shit ever.
How is that stupid ?
