Rent one for a weekend, then rent a different one. That should give you a better idea on layout/preference.

From what I read not long ago there is a large supply of RVs for sale, as hardly anyone is buying them - that should net you a good deal.

Personally I keep 11' A frame trailer for travel / or book a hotel.
With costs of camp sites, fuel, maintenance, and other costs associated with running RVs I look at them as very similar to owning a boat.

Really depends on what you want to do with it. Family camping, guys race house, family (# of beds) or just you and the wife, towing or not, mountains or not etc.

We are on our 4th MH along with two 5th wheels and a pickup camper. Every option has it’s plusses and compromise. We have not found the perfect rig.

Gas is fine unless you are towing a heavy load or doing a lot of mountains.
Roof leaks and calking are a big deal. If you are looking at one with slides, go to each outside corner and push up on the bottom. If it had leaks, the wood will be soft. Take a flashlight inside and hold it up to the ceiling. It will show a shadow of water spots.

Find a Pre 05 diesel pusher that's been used and stored indoors. Something with newer tires and never has leaked. Largest displacement you can find and side radiator

this one?

^^^^^ that's a beaut. Low miles for the age. Lots of debate on old vs new regarding things that simply wear out like window seals, plexiglass etc. One of my older MH's started getting cracks in the sunroof over the shower. Then the dual pane windows started fogging up.

On the other hand, that's a big bang for the buck and if you are not bothered doing maintenance it could be a good buy. Some people like the older technology, some like newer technology.

I own an old Wanderlodge - Old tech and slow, but built like a tank and comfortable. They are ALL steel, mine weighs about 38,000 lbs. The later ones were all steel except the front and rear caps. There are some really nice ones out there in your price range. They aren't for everyone but I would be downright angry to spend money on a fiberglass shithouse and then just get frustrated by little things all the time.

Neighbors just bought a 20 year old top of the line class A . The thing was garaged its whole life and has 60ish thousand miles on it. It literally looks like it came off the showroom floor. Has a 5.9 Cummins in it. Diesel pusher, 32 foot. He found it in LA. The guy bought it in Idaho three weeks earlier for 22K. Listed it for 32K. They called the previous owner and talked to him. He sold it to buy a new bigger one. Said it had no problems. They flew to la and bought it. We walked over and looked at it yesterday. It is immaculate. They looked up a similar model new and it is north of 200K. Deals are out there if you keep looking.👍

Wanderlodge here in the classifieds.

Damn

Wanderlodge here in the classifieds.

I can't believe that's even still for sale at that price. That's a great deal for that much RV

Wanderlodge is basically a Bluebird school bus that Bluebird made into a motorhome, a factory converted skoolie. They're a nice RV that holds up well and the one here in the Classifieds is a good deal. Full timing you definitely want bigger rather than smaller.

The lack of slideouts would be an issue living in it but for anything else that bus is the shit.
