What's new

Update on Friday

Story doesn't add up. If she was missing for weeks why does she looks that well fed and groomed? Also skeptical of her not wanting to go with the bf, especially given her demeanor in those pictures. She doesn't like him specifically from the sound of it.

I'd probably just keep my mouth shut if she turned up again.

Without concrete evidence of that dog needing to be stolen, ^this is dog stealer stuff in my book and should not be done. Dogs get loose by no fault of the owner sometimes. If someone "rescued" my dog from me after he got loose, I'd be fighting mad and I can't fight to save my life.
Go dog shopping.

Like I said, the story doesn't add up. I'm not saying go take the dog, but if it keeps getting out and they're half ass looking for it I'm not going out of my way to get it back to them either if it shows up.

Like I said.

I'm not going looking for her.

I hear ya. Been on both sides of this before. Our dog got off her run and turned up at the pound after a week.
Strange dog wanders up and sticks around for about a week until we stumble upon the owner who seemed shady as fuck.
I've met most of my neighbors at this house by returning their loose dogs. I have not come across one so negligent yet that needed their dog stolen.

Just my opinion. YMMV

I hear ya. I feel its asking for trouble you don't need.
If you are sure they are shitbags:
1. Keep the dog next time it comes around and deal with them when they come looking for it how ever you have to.
2. Get the law/whoever involved and adopt the dog after they take it away.
3. Keep the dog and they never come looking.

1 and 2 don't sound worth it and 3 doesn't seem likely now they know where the dog ended up the first time.
Just my opinion.

Not trying to be an internet badass or anything, but I don't exactly look like the kinda person you wanna start shit with so it's very rarely an issue. Not a big deal to just do nothing if the dog shows up, it'll work itself out.

1. Not really seeing the issue. Not my responsibility to keep bringing your dog back to you. I'll do it once or twice, but after that it's your problem.
2. Wouldn't both. If they show up they can take their dog back, if not oh well.
3. Basically the same as above.

Same response to this as above.
They might be shit bags. They might not. Dont steal dogs on a hunch.

Ya true, any of us could seem like those people in certain situations

8th or 9th option you could call em and try to buy the dog off em

Tell em your kids or something got really attached and blah blah blah

OP and his woman/fam seem to be understandably falling for the pup. He gets the pup back and fall for it more then original owner shows up looking for the dog, drama.

Go dog shopping, no drama.

Clear as mud?

Just message or call them and offer to buy the dog. You might be surprised.

Or, hey if things ever change that you need to re-home her, keep me in mind. Here's my phone number.
Leave the door open and do it in a good way, so to speak.

Thats a good idea as well if making an offer doesn't work out.

Did you ever have her scanned for chip? I mean I know if it was my pup she would know me in a heart beat! Seems odd all around.

Ya

Its further back in the thread.

We were going to in the first place but after talking to the owner she wasn't gonna get her back without the scan.

She was real noncomplacent about the whole thing...

Maybe because she didn't expect the dog to show back up.
