I've always run 32:1 in everything 2 stroke I've ever owned. Over the summer I bought a new weedeater before my awesome state of CA outlawed small gas engines for good and it came with two bottles of 50:1 trufuel. I ran those through my leaf blower, chainsaw, and weed eater and they seemed to run fine.

Now that I'm out of it and it's time to refuel everything for fall cleanup, is it worth buying the trufuel again or should I just run the gas mix like old times.

I assume the trufuel doesn't have all the ethanol that gas does and won't fuck up my carbs when I let my stuff sit for weeks/months

It's stupid expensive.

50:1 with a good synthetic oil is just fine. Some of the old castor oils need to be 32:1 or more for adequate lubricity.

I run Motul 800 in ethanol free gas for my bikes and small engines both.

Those of us in free states are going to start selling illegal small gas engines pretty quick... :flipoff2::lmao:

I run the stihl gas mix in my weed eater since it extended the warranty for like another year or some shit. Once that is up, I’ll likely keep buying premix in the gallon cans since the only two stroke I currently have running is the weed eater. Probably not the stihl stuff though, it’s even more stupid expensive than the regular premix.

All other small engines get non ethanol 91-93 octane. Helps significantly with small engine issues.

ethanol free pump gas if you got a station near you:

Yeah, we have a pretty good size lake nearby so most fuel stations have ethanol free. All my small equipment motors get nothing but ethanol free. Even my old Jeep that can sit for weeks at a time gets it.

Y'all are probably gonna :shaking: but I buy the Tru-Fuel... it ain't cheap, but I can throw my saw in the storage building totally un-prepped and grab it a year later and it'll start on the first pull or two guaranteed. :smokin: Worth every penny to not have to worry about gummed up carbs and such.

Smells like Cam2 which is an added bonus, I love the smell of Cam2 in the morning...

Holy shit, I just looked that shit up and it's like $25 a gallon??? What is it other than ethanol free gas with the oil premixed? That's a helluva mark up for something pretty easy to replicate on your own.

I use stihl or husky oil with ethanol free gas.. or at least gas with stabilizer in it. 50:1 I think.. I mix 1 gallon at a time and use the little bottles. I carry a bottle of the “engineered fuel “ in the jeep for my EDC / emergency chainsaw.

Race gas is available at my Napa but it close to $20 a gallon.. I can get ethanol free 100 octane at the local oil store for about $11 gallon last time I bought.

I live in the capitol of Kentucky. About twenty miles to straight gas. I use the trugas cause I can find it for chainsaw.

We also have some small airports with self serve pumps. So I can buy 100LL and still be less than half his cost with $80/gallon oil.

The Tru -fuel is stupid expensive.

I think I can still get 5 gallon cans of vp112 for $99, if we want good gas....

FWIW-My dad who lives away from me a good distance really wanted his weedeater going. We spent a lot of time messing with it-too much but it was bonding time. I ended up needing some parts. I went to a local small engine guy and he said he can fix, or at least avoid a ton of small engine problems by using the stuff in the can. Alot of times he says he just dumps the old gas and puts that in and it works. I am totally not the kind of guy to use that stuff, but he was pretty sure that it was the answer LOL.

Personally, I think some ethanol free and proper mix would work just as well for a lot less.

I did end up buying a gallon of it and it did run well enough for him to use his weedeater one last time. So it was a win.

32:1 will lean out the mix compared to 50:1, so if it was running good it might start getting a bit hot

or at least that's what I used to hear, dunno anymore what's what
I just do 40:1 on all my shit, with good oil not the shitty boat oil

chainsaw/weedeater gas
I mix it with whatever gas I have
I just do it in 1 gal jugs so it gets burnt fairly quickly and doesn't sit around

Used the Husky premixed fuel when I bought new saws for the added warranty. Went to mixing 50:1 with 100 octane race gas that was at a local pump for a while until I saw Lowe’s had the Husky premixed on a clearance sale. Picked up 20 gal at $9/gal. Ran that for a year, and now I’m back to just ethanol free gas and husky oil.

Never had an issue with any of the versions of fuel, I now mix 2.5 gal at a time and it doesn’t last long. I also try and run out the saws and weed eater before I put it away, so that helps.

Ethanol free and run a good oil. Keep all of your shit full of fuel when you store it. It’ll start just fine next summer. Learned this from a big landscape company years ago. That’s how they store all their equipment during the winter.

^ Ethanol free fuel for weed wacker and lawn mower. Mix for 2stroke weed wacker (lower end Craftsman).

However I ran mine out of fuel prior to putting away for the winter.
Just did so yesterday.

Non issue starting back up come spring.

Same goes for my Honda snowblower. Bone dry until ready to fire it up, 4 stroke so no mixing, ethanol free fuel only.

I use mostly just mixed eth free and buy good mix in the small bottles. Pretty hard to screw up.

However I do have a couple cans of trufuel. They are pretty shelf stable over time and well sealed. Perfect for tossing a can in the case with the saw if I'm going to take it with me. Or a can of the non mix to keep with the small generator camping and not need a gas can that goes bad. Basically my emergency backups when camping

You can buy it from a bulk fuel & oil supplier, they usually can get it in 5gal or 55gal cans. Buy it through your business.
I can buy the 5 gallons drums of it at my local napa, or my local airport sells aviation fuel but I'm not looking to spend 20 bucks a gallon on that

100LL at my local airstrip is about the same as they charge at the pump for ethanol free rec fuel.
