Bought 8 different rear view mirror/back up-side-truck-trailer/ camera systems.
Settled on this setup.
Things I liked.
1. Not based on an operating system, which would have meant you either have to have it asleep (drawing power the entire time), or it has to boot up (very annoying, like new aftermarket car radios).
2. Can buy extra monitor or cameras (plan on using second monitor inside trailer as a "home" surveillance system, when "camping").
3. Quality is very good when camera moving (some of the other "higher end" systems views, were really blurry, on edges of objects when moving).
4. Lighter than other rear view mirror capable setups, especially the one's with operating systems that were more like small tablets
(can mount this one on stock windshield button).
Things I don't
1. Night vision not as good as some others, but don't trailer that much at night and plan on stadium lighting if backing up/parking in barn or @ campsites.
2. Does not do bluetooth (or other app things), which might have been cool to have GPS up on screen (off phone) from time to time (was not really interested in all the other
app garbage, really, and figured maybe money spent on camera system itself in "development", vs all the other features I didn't want).
McMaster 20 minutes down the road, grabbed a plastic bar to make camera mount for V-nose...
Temp spot for side camera. Really need to get trailer out on road to see if I like it there, but not taking new truck and trailer out in that brine crap...
Rear cam. Still not sure if I wanted it up high, or down near lisc plate area.
Not a lot of space on the sides, especially with latest 4 post on the other side of boat.
(will be selling 26' alum open trailer in spring, so at least that will be out of the way)..
Ordered this kit. Going to make my own harness, and will keep hookup somewhat factory looking
with 7/12 pin bumper mount setup.
