Track kick doublers? Anyone still making them?

Fwiw, even a "modern" 5 speed (r150/ax15) is not all that long if you ditch the Rev/5th gear housing.

Approx 10" face to face

Obviously wider at ~9.5" but I'd think you could do a similar strip down to something smaller like a track/kick or samurai trans.

Everything is removable, just a samurai bell is harder to put back on
