I had a root canal done and one of the 3d machined inlays. It lasted about 5 years and popped out. Paid $1200 for the root canal $800 for the inlay. It's the 2nd molar from the back on the top.
In 2020 I had the same molar on the opposite side go due to a cavity I let go far too long. I asked for it to be pulled when the level of bleeding, drainage & pain was getting untenable. The dentist convinced me it was worth saving and sent me to an oral surgeon for a root canal.
She gave me a hard time for not having health insurance or a primary care, then charged an extra $300 for cauteraizing the gum where it wouldn't stop bleeding. So that root canal was $1800. The dentist wanted to wait a bit before crowning to make sure the tooth was settled. Well I kept getting sick from the daycare kids my girlfriend was working with and that timeline stretched out a couple months and the temp crown split and a bunch of the tooth came with it.
So now both of my root canaled molars are total shit. It's hard to justify spending a bunch on fixing teeth when I don't think I'm worth investing in. But letting things decay just forces the issue eventually.
