I know a lot of ppl getting implants lately and the dentist my Dad used has done 17k of them. On his last visit 3 patients were in with bone infections...
Also look into alternative root canal proceedures there is a lot of stuff out there you should look around at.

Different styles of fractures. Yours are fine. You don’t have a potencio al root fracture and you are talking about single vs multirooted teeth.I have 2 lower fronts cracked nearly in half (#23 and #26 i think) that have been that way for probably 15 years. I spit the pieces out after a faceplant on a mountain bike. Went to the dentist to get them looked at and he told me to fix them i'd need braces, fuck right off with that i'm out. Asked him what if I do nothing and he said they will probably fine.
They are still fine, can't see it when I smile. Real cold things bother them a little bit but hasnt' got worse
I'm not a doctor and never go see them, so take that advice for what its worth
Awesome good to know. Thank you. That was more informative than anything the dentist told meDifferent styles of fractures. Yours are fine. You don’t have a potencio al root fracture and you are talking about single vs multirooted teeth.
I have two from my last visit i was told needed crowns. that was last year. now I have a broken tooth or maybe a filling came out. left side lower furthest back. I'm thinking just pull it. how bad of a plan is that? Not much for pain, hardly any now. btw- im 50Different styles of fractures. Yours are fine. If it is a second molar, not a huge deal.I have two from my last visit i was told needed crowns. that was last year. now I have a broken tooth or maybe a filling came out. left side lower furthest back. i called my dentist yesterday and left a message. they didnt call back.
Ive been know to do stupid shit, like drive to arkansas for a dentist visit. you taking new patients? If it is a second molar, not a huge deal.
Here is one thing I tell every patient (I never push treatment, as I don’t like stuff pushed on me). People live every day missing teeth. Ideal, no, but not needed to live.
I think back teeth are more important than front because they support your jaws. But usually I don’t replace second molars unless the patient wants them.
Come on big boy. I promise to not let SoFried show up here tooIve been know to do stupid shit, like drive to arkansas for a dentist visit. you taking new patients?
I'll bring my buggy or my 500 katooom and have some fun while down there.
its 5 hours to fayetteville from here.
Where are you? My fil goes to a guy in fort smith that sounds a lot like he does what you do.Come on big boy. I promise to not let SoFried show up here too
I refuse to have another root canal. They'll have to yank the tooth or I'm leavingWith me it was root canal and crown. Root canals are not fun, but they are the thing to do to avoid an abses. Root canals can be expensivs; north of $1K.
IMHO: Root canal's are your friend.
Please don’t take this for face value either. The first 10 minutes were the only decent discussion. Teeth aren’t without a blood or nerve supply after a root canal. It is not dead. I have my own feelings about root canals. Especially since I have 3D radiography in my office. But she is wrong on a lot of things too.
The outside of the tooth also has nerves and a blood supply. It’s not a dead/free floating organ or the body would eject it for you (and will if it becomes infected enough).Dumb question from a layperson. If the nerves/blood vessels inside the tooth are removed, how does it still have a blood supply?
Yes I would. It’s never going to get better, and will only get worse, and when it does, it’ll likely be at the most inconvenient time possible.Would you agree to a root canal, post and crown just because a dentist pointed to "decay" on an X-ray and threatened "we need to treat this now or it'll blow up and you'll be out of work", even if you had no symptoms?
I know it's not complete bullshit because my old dentist who retired warned me about these weak areas but never pushed to have work done. This new guy is so aggressive I can't help but not trust him.
I've had 1 root canal and NEVER again. They can just pull it.Would you agree to a root canal, post and crown just because a dentist pointed to "decay" on an X-ray and threatened "we need to treat this now or it'll blow up and you'll be out of work", even if you had no symptoms?

My gold crown is going on 30 years old. It's probably my best toof.
Fixing to have to have another front one pulled. That puts me close to missing half of all my teeth. :(
I've had five or six. One molar had three root canals before I broke it at the root years later. Because I didn't get a crown for it.I've had 1 root canal and NEVER again. They can just pull it.
Decay will never “go away.”
I don’t force people to do anything. I do warn them and watch. And when they ask me what I honestly think, that is exactly what I tell them. I don’t work on decay as I only do surgery. I’m not that aggressive thankfully.
Just curious, are you at a corporate office? Those are the worst about pushing treatment because they have to hit certain parameters just like a cop giving out tickets to get paid. I’m private practice so I’m not hard up to push treatment.
Find a good private practice. Get better service typically and someone who really cares. Where are you and I may have a specialist around you that I know and he will know the good docs. Or if you know a seasoned lab tech and ask them who does the better work.New ownership appears to be corporate. Smilist Dental group.
