Been wheeling my Scout on 35's and built scout II 44's the past few years, have chromo fronts, 1541 rears, Tabor plates in the rear.

Its Ihpartsamerica SOA w/high steer, stock springs plus one leaf all around. PSC hydro assist steer.

Went wheeling once with guys in Buggy's and I'm hooked on big tires....

So sheet metal is going to get cut, front chev 60 going in, rear 14 bolt chev going in.

35 spline fronts planned with just an auto locker.

Rear 14 bolt is going ARB or Yukon Zip.

Dodge knuckles, plan on TMR double shear high steer arms. (have the pass side already) need a driver side.

Prob go TMR heim steer kit.

Staying full width on the tons.

Picked up a set of Spyderlock wheels for $1700. (set of 5).

Build will likely be over the next year or so as my F150 will need bother set of tires next year, need a new daily for work as my 09' caliber has 352k km on it and is rotten as hell. Daughter needs braces, wife needs a crown....

But the Scout is my baby!

I drive the shit out of it all summer long!

looking forward to watching the build. not too many IH build threads anymore

Got some more work done today. C's put back on at 6 degrees of caster. Finalized my top mount plate and drilled my 3rd stud for the top plate.

I’m far from a purist, but I’d hate to see the body get hacked up on that thing.

Got the front axle all finished and welded up complete. Added the upper C gussets like a few suggested on my other thread.

Time to paint it! Ordered Yukon 35 spline stubs, and Yukon 35 spline lockouts. I have the beefy stock Inner axle shafts. Going Spicer 1480's.

Now time to work on the 2" stretch u bolt eliminators from TMR for the 14 bolt.

Rear axle perches are welded on

This will give me 2" more of wheelbase from my current rear axle position.

I'm currently around 104.5".

Thannks,
Looks Great!

Just put in my order for master install kit, Yukon 5.38T 14 bolt gears, 14 bolt ARB, all my wheel bearings and front u joints.

My front Yukon 35 spline stubs came in on the weekend. Still waiting on the Yukon hardcore lockouts to ship.

Now the last thing to figure out is a locker for the front diff and buy the master install and gears for the Dana 60.

Broke... Now.

I can order the Yukon Zip locker for Dana 60 through Amazon. Ca for $1100. Or the ARB for... Eff it just ordered the zip locker 35 spline Dana 60 4.56 and up.

Frig. That was a fast 5k....

Evem more broke...

But selectable front and rear will be wicked!

That is litterally every last part aside from tires. I'll wait till spring to buy those unless I come across a deal I can't pass on the marketplace!

So the front Zip locker that came was wrong, amazon's title said Dana 60 35 spline 4.56 up, what came was Dana 35 locker... Checked the details in their further decription and it had the Dana 35 model number...

That was $1220 with tax, the ARB front is $1662 with tax.

Wondering if I should spring for it or just get the lunch box...

Looking at the air locker compressors.

The zip is about $300 w/tax
The cheaper ARB is about $360 w/tax
The high output single ARB is $460 w/tax

Hmm not sure what to do.

I’m not much of an ARB fan, seems they never work when you need them. That said, I’ve only ever had lunchbox lockers. Poor people problems. Wheeling for 15years with all my buddies and all of them have had problems with seals in the diff.

Call ECGS or another vender instead of giving Jeff Bezos more money to build penis rockets.

I'd also love to give my money to another vendor but litteraly no one has stock of anything. And I'm in Canada which makes it even harder.

Not sure how bad shipping is to Canada, but I have a Detroit and a Spartan both in stock, at the shop.

Ordered the front Dana 60 ARB locker through a Canadian supplier. Minimum 6-8 week back order. Was listening to wheeling wine and whiskey and Kevin Jones stated like a 6 month wait to get a 60 zip locker.

At least I've got all the parts for the rear to build it complete.

Leave the Scout as-is and build a buggy. No matter how hard you try, a full body rig is never a buggy. There are too many constraints, especially when it comes to suspension.

If I didn't have two kids under 14 I'd have a bigger shop and room to store more than 1 extra rig. I'm waiting for the property across the street to come up for tax arrears sale again. Lol. All it has is a garage on it.

Eventually one day I might do a buggy but not being Street legal to me is useless. Where I live it's moot.

A buggy/ TMR series race rig would one day be in my sights.

I don't really care about making the Scout a raisin as it doesn't hurt my feelings. I bought it to do exactly what I'm doing with it, didn't build a mall crawling street only truck.

I'm keeping the old axles that are about as built as it can get for late 70's Dana 44s aside from going to Jana44 35 spline carriers and gears.

Ill likely build my kid an older CJ with those scout axles one day.

Well I'm 6-8 weeks out at least on getting my front 60 done due to the ARB backorder.

Got the rear hubs installed tonight on the 14 bolt. All new timken bearings and seals.

Ground down the 4 slot socket to fit in the 14 bolt hubs so I could use the standard 4 prong style locknuts and washers rather than the 6 slot and stupid washers you have to bend over.

Wanted the same style at all 4 corners.

My friend is sposed to machine my ring gear down for the 14 bolt tomorrow if he has time at work. For the shave dimension of 10.050".

Once I've got that can finish the ARB install.

Dealing with these stupid Eldorado calipers on the rear, ordered a set of the "correct" d122 pads, they're too thick with the 3/4 ton rotor.

I ended up taking the things to work and side loaded the 10" pedastal grinder to grind 75 thou off between both pads. Brought em home and they now fit the rotors. Looking into those D52 pads they are thinner than the D122 pads apparently and should be close to fitting. However they don't have the tit for the anti rotate on the Piston. I figure I'll drill and tapp a for #12 grub screw in the spot for the tit.

Barring that I'll have to just turn the rotors down 20 thou on both sides.

Talked to Shawn at lugnut 4x4 and he has his pads custom made for his kits. Shipping is the kicker will cost me almost $100 cdn for a set of pads lol.

Hmm. Will see what I can do for cheap D52 pads locally.

Got the rear brakes all sorted out. Went to Napa and got their proformer D52 pads. Had to sand about 40-50 thou off the pads to get them to fit. Also drilled and tapped the inner pad for the nub that prevents the Piston from spinning on the Eldorado calipers. Used a 10-32 grub screw and loctited it in.

reused the stainless lines I had when I got a rear 60 with the Eldorado set up on it. (sold previously but kept rotors and calipers.)

Got my brake lines ran.

Got the 14 bolt ARB installed today after my good friend Jason showed up with the machined ring gear!

Install went great. Works great, no leaks.

Backlash so far set to 8 thou

What do you think about my patterns.?

Think I should move the pinion a few thou closer? Right now it's at the standard 15 thou.

Rear axle is in, just need to sort my e brake cables and weld the shock mounts on.

With the 2" stretch spring perches I'm now at 106.5" WB.

Thinking of out boarding the rear shocks, to do that, I have to move my exhaust. It if I do that I should be able to run a torsion sway bar eventually through the frame like ihpartsjeff

Couldn't wait for next year? lol you work fast.

Haha blew out the front right wheel bearings on my trip home from wheeling the other day so that ended my wheeling season, no sense in throwing more money at the Dana 30/44 (scouts were a hybrid, 44 center 30 outers) so no time like the present!

Picked up some 37" worn out rollers to mock everything up. Still need my front locker, and my steering set up.

With a wheel and 37x13.5R17 Toyo. Think it's too small but would be the least amount of cutting....
