What's new

Things you used to enjoy…..

Socializing. I really used to enjoy being around people and we used to camp with a group years ago, had a group we’d spend weekends on the river with, would have fish fry’s at our house, etc. I was part of a large deer hunting group, had a group of guys I shot archery league with, all kinds of stuff like that.
Now when I’m not at work I prefer to just be at home or doing something with the kids and grandkids.
Times have changed and it seems like every time a group of people get together there’s always drama now.

Another one is concerts. We’ve gone to a lot of concerts over the years. I still like live music but prefer a small venue. I don’t enjoy the big crowds anymore.

Yes, immigrants in big cities are stealing them and cats outta the parks and neighborhoods. :homer:

We've got immigrants poaching up here now too...regularly filmed net fishing where they aren't allowed. I don't like government laws all over everything, but conservation is necessary so that we actually have an ecosystem in the future.

Firewood isn't that bad. I cut, tacked and delivered 25 cords on my last time home over about 2 weeks. And im pretty slow.

To be fair. Theres a lotta folk out there that would benefit from selling their 450. And buying a 300 or 350.
Yeah the last time I was on a 450 was in the carb days and it still had way to much hit right off the bottom to have any fun on singletrack. A buddy who's way faster then me put the hot chip in his kawi and said it was to much unless your on the track. Even a 250 2 or 4 stroke is plenty if you aren't super heavy or have huge hillclimbs.

So let’s say someone with a mid size ADV bike is looking at a “small” bike to improve my single track skills or harder two track that is too technical for my current skill level.

Not downsizing. In addition to. Not hucking off MX jumps. Will be dropped many times. Not likely to get any maintenance beyond fluid and pad changes.

Ideal if it is street legal “enough” that I can take it 10 miles on pavement to the forest roads and trails.

All my bikes are Italian but they lack in small displacement supermoto or MX bikes unless I have missed something.

Suggestions?
I have a plated 2014 Ktm 350 exc with a mild suspension revalve and geared down a bit, sucks riding on the highway but will keep up to anyone
on the trails until I run out of skill. The 500's work good too a bit better on the highway with a taller 6th gear.

Have a few buddies still clinging to their 450's. On the big hills they just get it.:smokin: But even they will admit that 99% of what we do would be way easier on a 300 or 350

Copy on the 350exc. Seen a few locally for sale. Plated.

Might wait for first snow then make some lowball offers - reading tips on how to be a scum bag buyer :lmao:

I see the Orange tax applies.

Only issues I have seen on them has been fuel pumps.

Husky might be a bit cheaper. Its the same runnin gear, just set up a bit different.

I'm ok with a lil orange tax. When the jap bikes start putting out solid woods bikes I will look at them again. Yamaha an Kawi are trying, but they got some catchin up to do:laughing:

Dunno about your area. I gotta dealer 5ish miles from me. I can easily save $1k-$2k+ by driving a couple hours north. I'd shop around.

Might make sense if you can find a leftover bike. Sometimes they sell for what the used ones are goin for...

Couple buddies have fe250 or 350 and love em. Not really much for highway riding, but backroads, coffee shop runs, and exploring, they're tits.

Fabricating. The novelty wore off pretty quick for me, I do it because I'm cheap and there is like 2 vendors making decent stuff for 1st gen Tacomas, and I don't buy their shit because I'm cheap:laughing:. I would much rather wheel it and do preventative maintenance or just tinker on the wheeler than full on fab projects.

Shooting, building computers, buying projects. 10 years ago I was constantly doing all of those. Now I haven't gone shooting in at least a year, haven't even thought about building a computer for 10 years, and try my hardest to buy something that is as close to done as I can afford.

Used to enjoy people. Now it seems everyone is self absorbed or down right hateful. People hate others simply because they don’t believe the same as them.

Not meaning to shit on your post. But my take

It’s the way it’s always been.

And it’s way more nuanced.
For instance
You believe rights are the governments to endow, interpret, modify, and enforce as they wish and are actively working or advocating to deprive me of mine…. That’s not despise based on “believe different”…. It’s something else.

Used to enjoy any big events. Concerts, county fairs etc etc. Anymore people are shit and everything is fucking stupid expensive. We went to a local farm Saturday that has corn mazes and all sorts of stuff for kids along with food. $50 for 2 adult tickets in the door, $7 strawberry lemonade, $17 Burger and fries, $11 for the world's shittiest corn dog etc. dropped $100 for 2 hours of wading through fucktards and their idiotic hyperactive crotch fruit. Not going there again. :homer:
