What's new

The revolver thread.

There are some beautiful wheel guns in this thread.

Every year in late jan/ early feb I have some friends over for a gun weekend. Last year we had a glock party and all built P80 glocks. This year was going to be AR-10s, but it didn't pan out. Instead, we just went to all the local gun shops. I knew I wanted to add a revolver to the collection, and found a new Colt Python 6" barrel. Turns out it is a talo edition with a brass bead sight and different grips. Picked that up, and had a blast shooting it. Then I learned there was three talo edition colt revolvers. My savings account hates me.

Nice. How do you like that holster? I’ve considered several for that thing but haven’t bought one yet.
I just got it so no real report yet. I actually took that pic when it showed up. It's a Bianchi. I mostly prefer Galco combat master style rigs that ride a little higher, so I'm worried about this flopping around. But the fit and quality is good. Thick, stiff leather and good stitching.

I've been batting around getting something for this gun for a few years and finally pulled the trigger on this (used). I suspect it's going to be a pain in the ass based on trying it in an open ended 6" holster. I'm thinking about trying to take a deer with it this year so I wanted a dedicated holster that would keep it from clanging around in a stand.

I need to find something for my 586 one of these days. Seems soon as you go to a 6" barrel every holster out there has a strap over the top in one way or another. Wonder why that is?

At that point they assume it’s for hunting and you’re going to want a strap while you’re rappelling down a mountainside to shoot a mountain goat or whatever.

Well they are wrong

This guy will make what you want, strap or no strap. Or removable strap.

I bought this 15-3 from the Portage Indiana police department, gave it to my dad and then inherited it back. It's a little beat, and had "Portage PD" electro-penciled into the other side of the frame, it's been shot very little and is great condition mechanically. My dad had had one in his 20's but had sold it and always wanted another. He went to school in the South in the 60's. He had some pretty good stories about using it to shoot rats running around his apartment parking lot. Different time and all that.

My Dad's buddies used to talk about driving down El Cajon Blvd and shooting out street lights in the 50's, and they were all cops.

Sorry for the interruption, continue with the revolver thread.
