Had a build going on the other site- https://www.pirate4x4.com/threads/the-red-truck.2603441/

Not gonna start over cause I’m lazy. But I’ll continue the story of our Red Truck here and post pics occasionally with the hope that it may help someone else with ideas on their own build...

The body is currently at my buddy’s shop in the paint booth...

Didn’t originally intend to go this crazy with the paint. My buddy has a body shop and owes me a few favors so...

Looks good but, All that work and you bent the cage around the dash?

Agreed, shouldn’t have done that, poor planning. This thing kinda evolved as I went. Actually purchased the 4X innovations cage originally with the plan of a quick cage instal & body swap and back out to the trails ASAP! Didn’t quite go that way. Looking back I prob should have given up on the whole toy truck thing and just built a buggy...:homer:

there is some truth there

I wish I had a tenth of the OCD this guy is blessed (cursed) with. I'm always just trying to slap my shit back together enough to get it back on the trail. The finished product of this build is sure to be epic.

No soft top this time?

Had intended to cause we liked the look, but it ended up being too much work and not enough time. And to be honest, we never took the old top off...

Been working on getting the bed ready for paint...

I’m clearly having picture issues :homer:

If anyone in San Jose wants the old bed, it’s yours. Was about to chop it into recycle bin sized pieces, but my wife is irrational and convinced someone will want it...

I’ll give it a day or two before I cut it up...

Prepping hardware for replating. 24hr vinegar soak, 24hr evaporust soak, 3 hr corse media, and 5 hour fine media per batch. Kinda sucks picking the walnut out, but I’m getting a deal on the plating, so we gotta do most of the prep....

"but I'm lazy."

Nope. We've seen your last build on this. That's a lie.

I'm not so sure... We’ve got a fresh dual case setup and R151F, but gonna leave the 10 year old setup in there for now. Cause I’m lazy!

Quite certain it’ll bite me in the ass somehow, it it always does...

Almost ready to set the new cab on there :smokin:

hell yeah! thank you for continuing this on the internet :smokin:

amazing to see what a proper resto-mod toyota looks like

Appreciate the kind words, but it’s more an example of my mental problems and complete lack of proper medication...according to my wife anyway...

Finally got some time on this project over the weekend. Was kinda sad to see the old cab all stripped down and sitting on the stock IFS frame.

Not gonna lie... the rocker chop on the front of the bed drives my OCD nuts...
