TH400 Transmission Builder Recommendations?

what i love about this thread is i am learning about autos.... even ones on the bench. i did a complete factory tranny right down to the stall. my thought process was stay simple. and in a round about way have tcase gears and axle gears it should be easy for a tranny to not feel the load. i dont know just how i was thinking.
This is good thinking for slow crawling. Doesn't work much if you have a lot of power / aggressive driving style.

here is something that is a shocker..... i truly am intimated by the right now power the LS has over the 22r. remember #learning curve....

so i hope i dont eat a tranny to fast.... sorry derailing. :lmao:

engine braking valve bodies are murder on internals. probably an unpopular opinion but they are a fad that developed when everyone started switching from manuals to autos and wanted them to drive the same. when you downshift on coast then apply throttle it basically slingshots the internals from one shock load direction to another. there was a thread on the old board as it was dying that went into detail why these valve bodies are a terrible idea. i wish i had saved it.
Many stock electronically controlled automatics have engine braking be the default in the higher gears and/or they gate it behind the OD off or tow/haul switch.

Edit: worth adding that in a lot of cases the newer ones PWM the solenoid so it's not a slam.

omg i just made a budlight meme......
One of the guys at my work: "Anytime I see anyone drinking Bud Light from now on, I'm going to ask them why they're drinking tranny fluid". :stirthepot::laughing:

I went from a 190:1 manual toyota on 38.5's and leaf springs to a v8 auto buggy/co's and 44 inch tires. You are gonna have soo much fun first time out just learning. Just keep a eye on your trans temp.
