Target market to sell a set of weird axles

Sooo, requiring help form the knowledgeable folks that lurk on here,

I have a set of 9" axles I got in trade at some point.
I was going to use them for a project but likely that I won't have the time to do so.

They are 60" ish WMS, driver drop and 5x5.5" bolt patterm.

Front one is a full bling Gearworks / Spidertrax setup, all the way down to the knuckles, shafts, brakes etc.
Rear is a more classic semi float 9" in a reinforced factory housing, with strange case and chromo axles. Still has wilwood brakes.

What would be the target market to sell such a set of axles ? One of my friends mentioned Early bronco guys could be interested in such a setup. Apparently they are looking for axles in that width range and pattern. I think it would apply to XJ / TJ / ZJ guys if they are trying to keep it narrow too.
Any other idea?

If not, I'll widen them, but the time is lacking.

Early broncos, Flat fenders, CJ's all of them use a narrow axle, but if most of us are swapping them out, we'd like a little more width as well.

Not sure I can sell the 5x5.5 UBs though...

I'd bet there's a CJ / Bronco person out there looking for something like that. Problem is that forums don't seem to be great for selling anymore, craiglist is dead, so it seems like FB marketplace is where it goes or one of the million sale pages on there.

I'd try the rockcrawler fbmp pages first to see if you can flip for minimal effort, then go for selling parts.

My first though was Early Broncos. There are a surprising amount of guys sinking tons of money into the stock axles on those.

Bebop , ClassicBroncos.com has a pretty active classified section and Bronco guys aren't cheap bastards.

Wouldn't be bad axles for CJs either, but the Driver drop hurts you there. Same for a Samurai. 60" WMS is narrower than stock for XJ, YJ, and TJ and the 5 on 5.5" bolt pattern would mean they would have to invest in new wheels. Would be pretty sweet in an RBV for someone that doesn't want to go full width, but RBV guys are broke dicks and they are 5 on 4.5", so again, new wheels required.

Early jeeps are like 51" wide axles, so they might be interested, but driver drop kinda kills that.

Don't the cone dodger guys like 62" wide axles?
 
What are the specs of the front 3rd member? ratio, locker, high or low pinion?

Early Bronco axles are 59" wide. I have a EB width solid front axle and the slip yoke eliminator kit in my 94' Explorer 8.8, which brings it out to about that as well. Would make good axles for the Early Bronco dudes, or someone doing a solid axle swap into a 91-2000 Explorer.
 
Definitely try to sell them complete at a good (reduced) price to make life easier. The enthusiast Facebook groups are the best place these days, but craigslist and any remaining forums are still worth posting as well.

If they don't sell within a month at a good price, then pull the ad and repost new ads to part them out. That's if you have time and motivation to deal with parting them out.

I'm not sure of the current market sales price for those axles, especially used with unknown mileage/use. It's probably less than any of us think.

Prob 6k for the pair.
Open to offers of course.

Just remember the price for a comparable brand new front axle is about 15k

That's probably a good price unless they were under a comp rig or have been obviously thrashed. $6k OBO would probably bring some $5k offers which isn't terrible for axles that are taking up space.

I'll do that with some more details etc in a bit.
Wanted to see what ideas the people of IBB had before I did so.

I'm in the middle of moving my shop and they're burried under more axles.

Tj or eb is probably about it. Jk is wider stock and needs much h wider to really fit big tires.

Xj/xj people are way to cheap for those :laughing::flipoff2:

That's a good price.

Would you be able to widen just one side to get 67"ish?

All CJs are 5x5.5", YJ, TJ, XJ, MJ are all 5x4.5", JK and JL are 5x5". I don't know why Jeep did 5x5" when they went to the JK instead of going back to 5x5.5". Frankly, I don't know why they ever deviated to begin with.

All the pre-'97 1/2 ton Ford and early Broncos are 5x5.5" as well as 1/2 ton Dodge trucks and Samurais.

And scouts but pass drop. But no scout guy is going to buy em for more than $1500 especially spooled. Would be good for a LS swap with driver drop tcase.

Totally spaced Scouts. What's the WMS width on the early ones? I imagine Scout IIs are too wide.
 
I wish I knew where to look for odd ball axles. Didn't think these would quite work for me but no idea where all these axles are going. At the rate Spidertrax is making them you'd think they be up for sale used pretty frequently.

RBV and early Bronco in addition to the Jeeps you listed.

I think anybody who's SASing a non-fullsize with a driver drop case (S10) would be happy to get them at the right price.

Gonna be a tough as fuck sell for $6k though. Nobody is dropping that kinda coin if they're not getting exactly what they want.

I used to trail wheel a stretched wheelbase flatty with 60 wide axles and 37’s. Proportionally everything was just right.
 
I feel like parting these will be the way to go if I want to minimize the time I invest in them.
