As some of you know, I cut a tire last weekend. Now I'm shopping for 33s or 35s. Most of the riding is east coast slop but I'm street legal in WV so it sees some blacktop time. What is everyone running?

East coast here and a lot of the sxs’s locally are running maxxis carnivore’s. They seem to hold up pretty good for our mixed terrain 8ply and aggressive enough to deal with slop

I really like my system 3 RC500 (non sticky). They are pretty true to size for a 33 and not overly heavy. Smooth on hard road decent in mud, great in ruts.

I think the RC stands for Rock Chucker though because they do fling rocks on gravel roads. I really wanted an aggressive sidewall and they are very trepador-ish. There are sooooo many good tire options out there.

those are in the running for sure as well as a couple other styles from System 3.

I had a set of 32" System 3 XTR 370's on my Talon before putting the Turbo on. They were a great tire, but HEAVY. Robbed a ton of top end.

I waffled a lot on a few of the system 3's.
I almost went with the XC450's and also considered the RT320 because they are light for a 33. The "round" profile ultimately turned me off of the RT320.
Shoot I might try the XC450 next time. I also like the look of the HiLIfter Roctane but they are very heavy.

I have no idea how they work on the mud and **** but I run Tusk Terrabytes on all my UTVs and I get 5,000 street miles out of them.

They are also DOT rated

I have a second set of 32" BFG KM3 that I run for FS roads and easy trails and backroad riding. They run true up to about 50mph unbalanced on Polaris beadlocks. A buddy runs them in a 35" on his Turbo R4 in all conditions and he goes pretty much everywhere I do on sticky Zillas. I know my KM3s steer much easier with the rounder profile. I have ran Carnivores in the past and they are a great all around tire and I know some complain about weak sidewalls but I never had an issue.

A buddy was running the Maxxis Rampage on his 4 seat XP and seemed to like them. They are similar to the Carnivore but a harder compound so treadwear was better.

The XT370 from what I saw are pretty heavy as a trail tire but seem to have pretty good traction on the dirt. They didnt seem to work as good on the rocks around here since they are a little harder and the bigger tread blocks.

A buddy with a X3 4 seater is running the 37" Obor Roc Scraper Comp compound and he likes them. I would not run the sticky if you are gonna backroad drive it but they do well in Moab and southern MO on the dirt and slick limestone at SMORR.

any reason you didnt jump to 35s? ive been going back and forth with it. your terrain is likely very similar to mine. in my head going to 35s opens up a can of worms with clutching and axles

I've had zero problems running 35s on my KRX and I'm not easy on it. The clutching and axles in my car are 100% stock.

I went back and forth on it 33 vs 35. In the end i decided on 33s because they are lighter and easier on parts in theory. I figured if i put 35's on it I would try double blacks and that is not what we got the krx for. I tried being honest with myself for a change and keep it mild :lmao:

I do have JBS clutch weights and a tune so 35's wouldnt be a problem.

Clutching is my next thing on the list after tires. there's been plenty of drama on the facbook pages over JBS vs Cornell and I havnt decided who I'm going with.

I went JBS because I like how he talks **** old PBB style :lmao: Plus he is in WV and has been in the clutch game for a long long time. His materials and coatings are well thought out. I may try a secondary spring next mainly because i cant leave **** alone.

The FB bickering between Right Coast, JBS and cornell gets old but all of their parts seem to work well. Cornell got in the game late and just reverse engineered other peoples product. They make the over/under drive mods seem like some secret magic and all they are doing is machining a new angle on the sheaves, to get the belt to ride lower or higher in the groove. Its super basic lathe work and grade school math and they act like they are reinventing the wheel.

The trash talking wears me out lol. I’m in the same opinion. Anyone who has any mechanical knowledge can figure that out by looking at it once. It seems he’s got the best weight material and coating. I’ll probably go with his stuff. Cornell claims reduction along with increased top speed. I think they make the belt ride higher on the sheaves to get the extra top speed

thats exactly what he is going, getting the belt to ride up on the last inch that it normally doesnt.

I did ditch my primary spring which lowered the rpm 4-500. without the spring you can also release belt tension and add or remove "weights" to tune the clutching fairly easily. The adjustability is nice when switching tire sizes, tunes, etc.

back to tires I think for wv riding the Super Atv Incursion AT looks to be about ideal depending on what the compound actually is. If the prices come down this fall i may try a set. They remind me of the Falcon MT truck tires that do really well in our terrain.

I had a set of the super ATV XT warriors on my General XP and I absolutely loved them. I thought about going back to them in a 33. They are pretty soft even the “standard compound”

I saw a video from JBS? the other night where he had a Cornell clutch setup on his bench tester and he basically showed that the low ratio isn't any different than stock. 🤔

Other than costing a bunch of money, I'm not seeing any advantage to that setup unless you feel the need to go faster than the stock top speed.

The highschool style rants get annoying. Before work got so busy, I had planned on designing up some clutch weights just to stir the pot. Pretty sure I could use some fancy coatings to improve the current offerings???
