SxS general discussion thread

This is pretty wild, I have doubts it'd ever see production but a solid axle portaled UTV from factory is just insane.

Best pics i have of rear suspension. Trailing arm points is missing but its just a horizontal ball joint.

Yeah you're dead on, I assumed it was like the others and it's clearly not.
Honestly I thought about making limit straps with ratchets in them. Not as convenient but alot easier to package.
If you out the limit straps on a round tube with a linear actuator you could "roll" the tube fwd/back to shorten/lengthen.

Or chain drive the tube to winch to give you infinite suck down or regular limit.

Dude......I can only get so erect. I also doubt itll make it anywhere but in order to convince me to pay $40,000+ for a sxs this is it.

Saw a video on IG of a 1000XP RZR with the engine replaced with a 35lb electric motor that looks like a torque converter. They didn't specify HP but had it cog belted to the stock transmission input and it looked like it ripped pretty well.

I know unsprung weight on a light rig is the biggest enemy of suspension tuning but I couldn't help but think of one of those motors in each hub with an intelligent control unit and a decent sized mid mounted battery where the engine and trans would reside. If the motor RPM wouldn't work as a direct output, you could do some type of portal reduction at the hub.

No more axles breaking, no more CV's causing steering or articulation limitations, could specify torque % to wheel. Possibilities would be pretty endless.

If you were a real programming genius and could get your hands on a live valve setup, you could even set up torque output at each wheel dependant on suspension load and really make it a cheat code like F1 did back in the 90's.

Exactly, just got to find the right stuff.

Awesome, let me know, I'm looking for a 145* plus motor to center mount and swipe the full windshield.
Might have to do 2 90* if that doesn't work out but its not my first choice.
I finally remembered to look. I still have it. It’s the Can Am wiper washer kit.

News to me but a local very small power sports dealer has 2 artic cats out front.
A wildcat xx and a defender-ish "limited".

I never thought the xx was a bad looking setup, no idea if it's made from cheese or whatever.

I've always had the impression that Arctic Cats were for roofers and drywallers.
My sledding buddies who ride Cats are always blowing them up.

But I always sorta had that impression of Kawasaki as well. Lately I have owned / operated quite a few Kawasaki products and have been eerily pleased with their reliability. So I'm open to being wrong.

The XX is actually a pretty good machine. Robby Gordon helped them engineer all of the suspension and it apparently works pretty well. Has a 3 cyl Yamaha engine similar to the YXZ but with a CVT and more HP.

The Prowler is their utility machine, don't know much about them besides they use the same Chery 3 cyl as the Kawi Mule Pro series and some of the John Deere Gator's. They bragged the Prowler was the quietest gas SxS on the market for years, not sure if that's still true.
