Fucking adulting sucks...

About 45 minutes south without traffic.

Mom was stubborn and barely left the house. Massive Heart attack or stroke took her out a couplenyears ago when my dad was back in Germany. My daughter found her dead on the bed. 😢

Now dad has a new girlfriend and is actually exercising and traveling more than he used to(home to Germany twice a year).

He was there in May and is going back and then on a cruise around Italy with the new GF end if this month. He'll be 85 in December.

I had to work today, which sucked ass. Had to load a 40' trailer by hand. Basically 90% of my parts inventory and my Parts Dept is now officially closed and I am moving on tomorrow morning to another of our stores, a goddamn furd store at that. 45 minute drive one way, $100 in gas every 4 days and 13k miles on my truck a year. Can you tell how happy I am about this bullshit?

Need a Civic or TDI Vw or something cheap and good on fuel Makes no sense spending $5k a year on fuel when a car will do it on $1500.

That's the plan if I keep this job. Before I lived 3 miles from work and could drive home for lunch. Now I will kill and extra hour and a half of my day just driving, so unless they compensate me somehow, I may not stick with this. They have made promises, but no concrete offer so far. But I will try it for a while. My truck will be paid off in January, so if I make it until then I will be looking into a little car of some sort that gets decent mileage to keep miles off my truck and save money in the long run.

Jim Pruett opened a firearms shop around Cypress after he left KLOL. I bought my one and only top end Wilson Combat 1911 through him.

That has closed since he passed away years ago.

You can still hear moby on 95.7 and outlaw Dave on 106.9. Diana steel does a lot of woman power speeches and such. None of it is the same as it use to be though. Too many corperate rules. Then there’s a small non-corperste owned 103.5 cypress radio, where you’ll hear the owner Colonel Saint James on the air from 3-6pm. He goes back to real dj’s that play what they want. Even if you have new stuff you want on air, send him a demo. If he likes it, he will play it. Like back in the day.

Weekend started shitty, work pulling telework policy, gotta go in 5 days instead of 4 to sit on the same laptop I sat on at home for 1 day per week. Just costs me more money to drive, whatever.

High tide made Friday fun. Nothing big, just fun in the rain.

Saturday, the girls slept all day so I clanked around the house until they woke up and went on a boat ride, took the neighbors to dinner, dude complained about the service at the dock bar, kinda trashed the night.

sunday, cook prepped for a competition Nov 2. Brisket, Ribs, Chicken thighs, Exotic. So I had to work on different rubs for thighs. Ate a lot of chicken

Good luck man. I'm in the same boat. Parents are OK for now, but it's only me and I'm 3 hours away. It's a tough deal.

That was Ste's situation when he moved here for the job. His father was 3hrs away in Garderville. It became apparent very soon that father cannot live alone. A very stressful 2yrs for Ste taking care of him and what he wasn't doing with the house and property from that distance.

Father was mad af about moving here too. I'm with him 24/7 so I heard the brunt of it. I finally snapped and told him his son had to move him here because he cannot live alone and take care of himself while drunk all the time.

Ste has the TDI VW and loves it. The savings in fuel going to and from CA for a year was awesome.

Now he needs to sell it because the only place for warranty work is in Reno and it's just sitting. It hurts my back to get in and out of, so I don't like.
