What's new

Stock Corvette: 233 mph

Nah. It’s not a super car. It’s a corvette with a lot of horsepower. It does come closer since st least it’s mid engines now. Still a long way to go.

Prestige is the biggest difference and a Corvette is never going to match the prestige of a McLaren or high end Lambo or Ferrari. But you can buy that Corvette and then spend a fraction of the cost differential on it and run laps around the bonafide "super cars" and running laps around snobs bragging about prestige is way cooler than prestige IMO.

Well f'ing said.

I have owned Lamborghini's, Turbo Porsche's, and currently the C8 Z06.

I can assure you that it is in the supercar realm.

The C8 ZR1 IS A SUPERCAR, I do not care who manufactures it.

At the end of the day, it's just a mass produced corvette.
production numbers of 10,000 / year or so is mass produced?

Ford builds around 1,000,000 F150's per year

I don't get the hate for America's first Supercar.

I have never been a Corvette fan, quite the opposite.

But you have to accept that things have changed and GM has stepped way the fuck up with the new Vettes

Fuckin badass car. Nice to know american engineers still got it when not hampered by bullshit and curtailing to the lowest common denominator. I'm not even a fan of gm, but this aint a car to talk shit about.

Its a big American fuck you to the dagos, krauts, and other European sissy types that sit to piss.

My buddy is the senior calibrater on gas engines at GM, he did all the tuning and certification on the engine in this Corvette, he said he's been working on it for the last 2-1/2 years. Pretty much any GM gas engine has his finger prints on tuning.

So if volkswagen makes the lambo with mostly vw parts and it only has 500-600 hp how is that a super car? Audi r8 is the same platform as the lambo yes? Same parts?
I feel like alot of cars get called super when they're actually not. Aside from there being no actual definition of a supercar.

V8 Miata in race trim = supercar because of lap times

Yes. Absolutely mass produced. GM makes more Corvettes than the entire range of Ferrari’s produced in a year. 8600 last year. The top of the range Ferrari’s like say the FXX have total production runs of 30.

Pagani and Koenigsegg are low production super car makers. They sell single digit numbers of their top line cars.

The Vette is the F150 of Sportscars I will grant you that. The best selling model continuously in production and they sell a gajillion be cause they offer incredible value for decent performance

Nothing wrong with that.

But the ZR1 is not a super car or hyper car. And is hardly limited production when they will make several thousand over the life of the model.

I also don’t get the hate for the Vette. Especially not the new Vette.

Was on a work event with lap time shootouts between multiple manufacturers including Lambo, Mercedes, BMW, Cadillac and others and I've seen what just the regular Z06 can do. I assure you, it is most definitely in the supercar realm. Just because you don't have to pay the supercar stupid tax doesn't mean it isn't one. A Carhartt jacket will keep you just as warm as a Versace one but a hell of alot cheaper.

Everyone has an opinion, mine:

R8 V8 is not a supercar.

R8 V10 is not a supercar, not even Gen 2.

V10 Lambo not a supercar until the Gen 2 Huracan, even then...

V12 Lambo is a supercar.

:flipoff2:

So it can't be super unless it's rare and exotic?

I thought super was determined by lap times and discomfort while you can't stop smiling... :flipoff2:

Ferrari is a branding company that makes cars (they make more $ on Chinese junk with their logo). Koenigsegg is an engineering firm that happens to sell a handful of handbuilt cars out of their back warehouse...

I think it's a byproduct of most of the supercars being manufactured in Europe and not selling well here.
