good morning all,

so i finally got into a 1 ton tow rig and i cant be happier. sure a 3/4 ton would have worked but after searching and searching the oly 3/4 tons i found were 6.5 foot beds. and since my rv went tits up and the roof deleted its self it made this decision easier for sure.

here it is, 107k on the clock and it has not been tuned or modified at all. its basically all factory inside and out minus the bed and front bumper.

my only plans are new radio with ability to bluetooth to my phone for maps, and back up camera for hooking up trailer.

i will be looking for a pick up camper and this will be the set up for me.

i think i have 373 gears also

You need to look into deleting it.

68rfe is a double over, lock out 6th when you tow.

Nice truck
good advise

one thing i love is setting the cruise at 70, and roll up to a hill, and in my f150 it would loose speed, down shift, rev to top of hill and go back to normal cruise rpm, but with this truck it just stays at 70 and you feel slash hear a little bit of turbo whistle and it stays at 70. yay . lol

Sharp truck with shockingly low miles for an 09'! Love the 0 to 100 aspect of going from a F150 to a dually 3500!

yeas it quite a shocker just driving it compared to the f150. now i am not knocking the f150 because it did everything that i asked it to do. this just feels like it will do it with more control.

Understandable there for sure.

That's geared high.

Mine runs around 2300 at 70. I think 4.88 or 4.56 gears.

Does ok, but the AS68RC trans is pretty shit.

I've heard lots say that, when I had my '12 Ram with a Cummins I never did that, just put it in T/H and go. Truck towed like a dream. I did have 4.10 swapped in. But thats like saying the new 10spds are 5 over so lock out the top 4 gears. Use all the gears you need. Use you head when Towing is my .02

Hauled about 20,000lbs between trailer and cargo. At 55mph.

6mpg. :barf:

My dump truck easily gets that sitting at 55,000lbs.

4.10s probably gave you the couple hundred RPM needed. Depending on speed, tire size, and load.

Grossing 20k I would notice it would jump back and forth. There was nothing to be gained by pulling in 6th.

Most people don't know or care it jumps back and forth.

Grossing 20k or pulling 20k?

I'd have thought this truck wouldn't hardly care grossing 20k.

But yes, I can see if you're right at that point where it's hunting back and forth, it makes sense to lock out 6th.

Or buy a 6.7 ford and it will actually shift correctly :flipoff2:

Good am all,

does anyone know of a OBD2 gauge cluster that will get trans temp, boost. i do not thik i am even working this truck at all with what i do but i would like to monitor. i know i could just install mechanical gauges but if the OBD2 can get the info then i like that route.

On another note i did get TPS tire caps for my trailer because we had 3 flats on our last trip, and maybe one of them could have been avoided if we could see what the tire pressure / temp was doing during the trip.

This week i will be picking up a pick up camper to handle all my sleeping needs. the next hurdle is see if i need a hitch extension.

keep you posted. cheers

No personal experience with one, but I'd imagine the Banks Power iDash setup would monitor all those parameters.

really hoping someone actually has one installed and are using it. but i imagine i could call banks and ask them, that would be alot easier than any other amazon seller.

Don't blame ya there one bit on real world experiences. They were just the first to pop into my head.

Meant to say that the camper looks good too! What TPS caps did you go with?

Neighbor uses iDash on his Ford. I'm using CTS3. Been happy.
