What's new

SLOWPOKE goes wheeling in a golfcart!

Bump, this was one of the busiest threads on here. lol
Been out running this thing more, or adding more goodies? :usa:

I bought a winch for it (that doesn't fit:mad3:) and have thought about throwing a set of 35s on it a few times but other than that I've just been enjoying it. My hangup with tires is I cant decide if I want Rockzillas or the M/T Pro-X stickies.

We are headed up to Crossbar Ranch on Thursday for the U4 race this weekend with the KRX so that should be fun. :smokin:

Looking forward to a trail ride with ya. :smokin:

We spent the weekend at Crossbar Ranch watching the U4 race and hanging out with friends and we had a blast!

Sunday morning myself and pinchegringo went for a ride and ended up running a bunch of the rock section of the race course. It was fawkin gnarly to say the least but totally doable in the KRX on the stock 31" tires picking the right lines. Later in the afternoon the wife and I hit the high speed section of the course and with a bit of attention to what's hanging out of the ground (sharp ass rocks!!) we kept up a decent pace and managed to not kill any tires.

So now I'm having evil thoughts of throwing a cage, 33's and saftey gear at the KRX this winter and running it at the next U4 race at Crossbar Ranch in April. Yes, I have mental problems.... :lmao:

I have been having the same dirty thoughts about my X3...

10 bucks says you don't.

Clearly you don't know me.

Cool thing about the stock UTV class is that you don't have to build a full blown race car to compete. A well refined trail rig with some saftey items on board will get the job done. Obviously with an N/A KRX vs turbo cars winning would be out of the question but I'd love to find out if I have what it takes to keep a car alive and finish a race as brutal as Crossbar is.

These are the stock class UTV rules.....

My car is factory equipped with internal bypass shocks that also happen to be Live Valve deals so I pretty much have the best shock package I could possibly run in that class. :smokin:

Man running the race course before/after the race is such a cool thing to get to do! Really puts things into perspective.

Videos and pictures do that place no justice and I have a whole different level of respect for what those racers are dealing with out there.

Something seemed a little dejavuy. 🤔 what is this reminiscent of 🤔 oh yeah, SLOWPOKE693 in September of 2020

I give you lots of credit for wanting to build a U4 SxS. Nothing about smashing one of those things through rocks seems appealing to my wallet. Rock racing is an expensive habit!

I still don't see anything appealing about racing around a short course with a pile of rocks dumped on it but running a race at Crossbar where the crawling is super technical (in a SxS) and even the high speed sections require more than just horsepower to make it through cleanly genuinely intrest me.

I totally get why you are addicted to that style of racing. :smokin:

Understandable there for sure. Brings it all full circle, with the exception of speed, a ticking clock, and a helmet/safety restrictions.

I think it's wise of U4 and the various parks to leave the Arrows on the trees for others to run after the fact, as well as to have a mapped version of the race course for rec wheeling.

My "best time" on the AOP race course was around 30ish minutes in a juggy on air shocks and 39's. Fastest 4400 the next day was a tick under 17 minutes for a single lap. :smokin:

I always enjoyed going to the local dirt bike enduro races and post running the course, getting my ass kicked at "trail rider pace".:lmao:

For sure. At one point I was "moving right along" wondering why someone wants to drive through trees, mud, and rocks faster than my current pace??? Tracking app said my top speed was 15mph on that roughly 7 mile lap...:shaking:

My brain must not work right because the whole time I was out there I kept trying to go faster but the throttle limiter sitting in the right seat kept shutting me down. I had no trouble at all keeping pace with a rig on 42s in the rock sections that rolled over stuff that were decent obstacles to the tiny little KRX and felt I could go much quicker without tearing shit up picking good lines.

Yup, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. :flipoff2:
Just trying to help a brother out!

Somewhat recently I saw a 4900 class KRX for sale somewhere in the Northeast. I want to say PA, but not for certain. Maybe you need a race one and a play/prerunner one...

Bebop will vouch for me, I'm slow and don't have an ounce of go fast in my system. Wife on the other hand...

I think I saw the same one but I don't need two cars. I'm just going to build a trail rig that can pass U4 tech and see what happens. Besides radios, window nets and a 3rd fire extinguisher I had planned to do all the other upgrades needed to make it a capable trail rig anyway so why not race it in U4 a couple times a year. Crossbar is close enough to home that I'd be able to go there and run trails to get some practice in to give me a sort of home field advantage.

Just looked again at all the various groups and can't find it again.

Your approach is more logical for sure.

White/black and had a Kraftwerks supercharger on it? The one I saw did and the ad also said they were bringing it to Crossbar for the finals. I saw so many SxS's with numbers on them up there that I don't even know if I saw it or not.

The added supercharger makes it an unlimited class car and that class is ruled by factory teams and CT Race Works/S3 built Can-Ams. That class is waaaaay out of my wallets league.

Talking about the same one for sure.
