What's new

Slowpoke attempts to kill himself in a golfcart!

I haven't messed with the car yet, still in parts gathering mode, but I did terrorize my neighbors Friday afternoon ripping it around my property WFO for 20 or so minutes. I don't think they were impressed. :lmao: Once I got that out of my system I parked it in the yard and took a few poser shots of it by the pond while the sun was out.....

Trailer progress looks great and I really like that fluid rack. Battery operated leaf blower will be your friend for cleaning the trailer as well.

Fluid rack is made by Pit Pal. I had the same fluid rack in my old trailer and liked it so much I had to have another one.

Cordless leaf blower is always in the trailer. Works good for blowing dust out and even better to turn a small campfire into a raging inferno.

Good to know on fluid rack and agreed on campfire usage.

MAO released their updated race schedule for 2024. Only 5 rounds of racing now and they took out the races in Wheatland. Kind of disappointing but it is what it is.....

I looked at other short course series 2024 schedules last night to see if any of their races were close enough for me to show up randomly to race and there really isn't..... Every damn track that CORRS, COR ect run next year is over 1000 miles one way.

Thats tough, much $$$$ in fuel

I'm excited for the June race. I'm going to request that week for vacation so I can hang out all week and bother JR4X and the rest of the Irate U4 crew.
We don’t get to go to visions this year. Not just us. U4 is not going to Visions, we’re going to Davis at the CrossBar ranch instead. I’m actually upset about this. Not only has visions been my favorite event the last two years. I’m afraid of what that means on a deeper level when the people who own U4USA don’t bring us to their home track? I’m worried we didn’t pan out for the owners and Nitro Circus did.

Damn, that's not what I wanted to hear. Something changed at MAO the last few weeks. They are not saying what but it's definitely something....... And you may be 100% right about Nitro Circus.

what did i miss about nitro circus?
Travis Pastrana got given the keys to MAO and a blank check to make it his dream land. They built a permanent Nitro Circus arena in the middle of the park. The paved a bunch of un paved roads. Put in stands, built a short course track. Dedicated a camping are for the Nitro guys. And that’s as of 4 months ago, I’m sure they haven’t stopped since then.

I just heard a rumor that DC is getting (buying) U4 back?!?!?!?! You hear anything about that?

I was quite surprised by the 2024 U4 schedule not having any races at MAO. Was also surprised at no Disney since it seems most of the drivers liked that race course.

It wouldn’t be Ultra4 without rumors like that floating around whether accurate or inaccurate.

I haven’t heard that one. I’ve been involved with some rulebook clarification stuff between DC and U4USA for 24 so I’m inclined to think that shouldn’t be true. Anything could happen though

And in my quest to lighten the car up as much as possible I ordered a Sparco QRT-C seat and their HD aluminum seat mounts today. The CF Sparco seat weights 12lbs compared to my fiberglass Corbeau that weights in at 29lbs, and the Sparco HD aluminum seat brackets only weigh 3.5lbs vs the 7lb Coreabu brackets I run now so I get to save weight there also......

Just swapping the seat and mounts is going to net me a 20.5lb savings. :smokin:

That’s awesome on the weight savings. Ounces make pounds.

Not to shabby for just changing the seat and mounting brackets. With the new steering wheel assembly I'm already up to a 25lb weight loss and I haven't even started on the ABS delete, the front clutch delete, lighter body panels or the CF driveshaft yet. I think getting it down to or below 1650lbs from the 1724lbs it weights now isn't going to be a problem. Ultimate goal would be 1600lbs so I can move 50lbs of ballast around but that might be wishful thinking.

Very cool all around!

Seat brackets came in yesterday. Judging by the size of these vs what's in the car now it looks like I'll be trimming these down a bit for better fitment, so that means they are going to weight less than the 3.5lbs they are stock.

New seat is scheduled to be delivered Monday. :smokin:

I need to order new belts and a window net after the first of the year. Mine have expired SFI dates and MAO doesn't mess around when it comes to that stuff. I also really need to buy a head restraint so I don't end up with a broken neck being a cheapskate. I wore a HANS brand when I raced circle track and hated that fucking thing with a passion so I refuse to buy anything similar. I also didn't like the 3" to 2" shoulder belts they required as they were pricey for what they were and not every manufacturer makes them. Right now I'm favoring the Simpson Hybrid because I like the idea of it not having to come off to get in or out of the car in an Oh Shit! situation where seconds count. If anybody has any other suggestions to try out I'm all ears.

I have a few circle track buds running the Zamp restraints, the 6A specifically as they are budget friendly.
A lot of the local super late guys are running the Necks Gen Rev2. Very compact

Thanks for the info, much appreciated. I have Smileys Racing and Day Motorsports within an hour of me so next time I'm in the area I'll stop in and check/try those two out.

Seat came in today and it's pretty freakin bad ass. It's not only light as a feather, it's also extremely comfortable and fits me much better than the seat it's replacing. It was hard to swallow the cost of it when comparing it to the Kirkey ultralight aluminum seat with their pour in seat foam kit but now that I've sat my ass in this thing I'm 100% satisfied with my decision.

You do a spark test on a sample of the foam? My impression was that aftermarket seats were hit or miss in the flammability department.

FWIW the Necks Gen Rev2 lite can stay on the helmet. The opening is big enough and its still easy to get in/out of a late model or modified. Modifieds have super tight windows.

That’s what I wear but I’ve never worn anything else. I’ve seen Simpson Hybrids trap people inside of their overturned cars, that’s why I never tried one. But I wouldn’t say a Nexgen is comfortable either. After KOH my shoulders hurt for weeks.
