Looking to replace my cameras. The house came with 4 zosi wired cameras and box. I've already had to replace one, and I just had another die. With the new camera, you can see shapes but your definitely not making out a license plate.
I'm fine with wired, it's a manufactured home super easy to pull wires.
I want a box with MY videos on it. I don't want it on a cloud somewhere. Being able to view it mobile would be nice but I don't care it I can't.
4 cameras is minimum. I might want more if I start storing more boats here. 4 is all I need for now though.
My main concern is camera quality. Is it my box, or cameras thats limiting me right now? Can I replace just one of the other two get my quality up?

And That has decently video quality? They don't have any real pictures. It's definitely more expensive then the system I have now so I'm sure it's better.

I've used the wyze stuff before. But I don't want it on a cloud and there system sucks, only being able to view mobile

I have a zosi system installed, my video quality is substantially better then your picture. The only problem I've had really is the transformer in the power splitter took a shit after 5 years of 24/7 use. The mobile app works but definitely is not a high end operation. Do you have a hard drive installed in the box?

I have 2 now. Arlo and alarm.com

Here is alarm.com I just screen shot

I have more but I’m not about to post every angle. 4 alarm.com and 5 Arlo.

It’s all the same functionality. Just get the most expensive cameras you can budget.

it was a zosi box. I believe it was like 2 terabytes. ive messed with the settings and on the best camera it still sucks. the older cameras are terrible.

I've had very good luck with Annke systems from Amazon. They have 4K cams, decent nvr systems, and their phone app is pretty easy to set up so I can see things on my phone as well. This is basically the last system I bought two years ago.

ANNKE H800 4K PoE IP Security Camera System https://a.co/d/eAiL0P2

They have systems with more cameras and more ports as well. I would advise going with the poe based camera system. All the power and data is transmitted over one cat5/cat6 cable. Night vision is around 75 or 80 ft or so with their cameras ( which I believe are basically hik branded equipment).

Lorex 4k cam.
This is 6:30 this morning and it's still dark. Can't tell because night color works pretty damn good.

Reolink NVR can go from 4MP to 4K
I've posted many videos from mine on here .

Just picked up a few Blink. Camera quality is good during the day but is lacking at night time. The cloud shit is annoying. Especially considering my friend told me he didn’t pay any monthly subscription…come to find out he was grandfathered in. So it’s $10 a month to get the full benefits of the setup. :shaking:

My company has EZVIZ which is all wired to a dvr and then the dvr broadcasts to the net so you can access it on an app. It is a little involved to setup, but not impossible a co-worker and myself setup 4 systems and we really like it. Good quality footage and the storage is pretty large. We are going on 7 years with our system.

My house has Arlo, it works good but it is a cloud based system.

And i want it to be able to live play to the monitor on my desk.
Reolink has a desktop client, can multi display, zoom record etc. on PC. HDMI port for connection directly to a TV.
I have it as input 4 on my living room TV, I can easily switch to a 6 cam view on my 65" TV sitting in my chair if I hear/see something.

My driveway is 600' long and I am looking for a camera system to put at the beginning of the driveway. I figure I will have to hard wire for that distance unless there is a wireless option that someone here can recommend which will work for that long distance.

I'm not sure 600' is possible for a regular wired POE camera over CAT 6.
You might have to do a p2p internet system or something, over my head honestly.

These are probably the cameras you have right?
No i have the 4mp at my house.
5 mp at the Vet clinic (motorcycle crash video)

edit: I originally got this style of system because on DSL I didn't have the upload bandwith to use any of the cloud cams.
After having it and using it many times I am glad I went this way over the others for various reasons.

If you can set up a Wireless Access Point or Relay, could you use a solar powered camera?

I have three of these running at different locations and they are a quality unit - the collector is metal and glass - no cheap plastic. Event recording is limited to about 60 seconds, can use IR or LED light (super bright) at night.

I'll give another vote for Reolink.

I've talked about my hometown's little library a few times, grassroots restoration project of a donated, derelict, old bank building. It's a thriving little library on the State's Historic Registry now.

I'm related to probably 1/3 of the town, and I'm somehow IT support for what feels like at least 1/2 of the town. Library had some riffraff doing some nuisance stuff, I assume they were trying to make folks think it was haunted. Someone was breaking in and moving stuff around at night. Best as we could tell nothing was ever stolen, just mischief.

Library board decided they needed security cameras, which soon became, "Lee what surveillance system should we get?"

I think I had a thread about it at the old site.

Wound up with the one of the PoE Reolink 8 channel kits. It came with 4 bullet cameras, put those at all 4 corners outside and added 2 dome cameras inside. I donated an old LCD monitor and some Ethernet cable, my dad, a cousin, and I installed it all in an afternoon.

Local storage so all the video is there, but has a phone and web app, so you can view remotely and get notifications if you want.

Looks like they have 4K cameras now, but 1080 was the best that was available at the time. Cameras are great in the day time, they're okay at night, I maybe had higher expectations. They are still pretty decent for the price.

The librarian and some of the board members were pretty vocal about getting a surveillance system and made it known when it was being installed. I guess word got out, because the ghost hasn't shown up since the cameras were installed. It's a real bummer, I was hoping to make big bucks from video of real ghost(s) caught on camera.

The daytime video quality is great, and the zoom works very well. Night time switches to B&W, but it still has good quality. The IR lighting allows you to see what's going on even when it's pitch black out. License plates are tough to make out at night due to the IR lighting them up. It's pretty much my only complaint with the whole system.

Same as you, I don't want any of that cloud based BS, and don't even have the remote access set up on it. I use it as a standalone system with the capability to go back and review events. With the new 16CH 4TB NVR I can go back almost nine days before it re-writes over the footage, and that's with all of the cameras maxed out to the highest settings. I keep a 24" monitor with all eight displays on whenever I'm home so I can see what's going on outside at a glance. I finally got a speaker for the playback when I upgraded the NVR, and the cameras do a good job of picking up sound.

That 8 camera 16 CH 4TB system for $850 looks like the best deal in the long run. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082KGF6FX?tag=91812054244-20
The 4 camera system I originally posted would get you up and running, but buying additional cameras starts to add up quick.
