Got the scope today. Still need to get some rings. Looks like the Warne qd low rings will work.

I got the scope mounted last night. Used a set of Warne qd rings in the low configuration. Probably won’t get a chance to zero it until next weekend.

place holder for me to upload a pic, but I have a enfield no1mk3 that I bought bubba'd I shortened the barrel, fixed up the bubba'd stock and added a hi-lux 2-7. It works great, keep both eyes open. It's super light and handy, ala like a 30-30 lever gun feel.

I have seen this mentioned a few times while talking about scout scopes. And it has always made me wonder why people arent doing the same thing when shooting with a scope mounted in the normal location
They should it's just really noticable with the forward scope.

I think the shorter eye relief and higher magnification of a typical scope is a little tougher picture with both eyes open. I'm sure guys can do it. I know my eyes don't agree anymore.

Burris and Leupy make good scout scopes.

Getting used to the ergos of a scout setup in general takes some practice. There are times it is a great setup, usually with sub 3-500yd targets where you need good situational awareness.

A scope with shorter eye relief fills more of your field of vision with both eyes open. Add magnification to that, and it's a lot for the brain to process. The scout scopes are great for both eyes open at 2x, but dial it up to 7x and you're better off closing the other eye.

I run mine at 6 which is the max I think and have no issues with both eyes open.

I added a B-Square scope mount to the Standard Mil-issue sights on 2 Mausers. A < $100 Tasco and a Simmons 2x7 on each. Never had the opportunity to hunt with them. In each case I was able to shoot far better groups than the irons at 100 yards. One group in 6.5x55 was under an inch at 100 yards. Never could get close to that with the iron sights, which were regulated at their lowest setting to hit about 5 feet above zero at 100 yards. The Tasco finally failed, the crosshairs dropped and slid after a few hundred rounds. I still have the Simmons on my Lone Eagle.

When I get a tag year after next, I wont chance my shot on a scout setup. Will be the standard 3x9 on Redfield mounts and 170g at 2800 fps out of the Tikka and the cleaning knife.

Admittedly, I've not spent a ton of time behind mine. Did it take some time to get used to or train your brain to make sense of it? When I've tried at the higher mags, my eyes want to pick one or the other to focus on.
