Driver seat looks like shit, and is the likely culprit of the old man smell….

I count 12 visible interior screws in the last pic, ah the 70s so many layers to everything.

Ooo select drive, nice.

I’m a fan of the whole shebang.

I acquired a 96’ 4.slow with the wiring, computer, and all the shenanigans required to make fuel injection things happen.

However, for my next trick, finding the appropriate oil pan for the car so I don’t have to do the choppy choppy weldy weldy.

Put the 4L head on the 258?

Trade ya for an actual Subaru .

I looked all over CL and MP in Colorado for one of these. Had to settle on an Outback.

Ok, I made some progress. Heavy on the some. I got my hands on two parts I need. I've acquired a 4.2 long block from a buddy, and a 4.0 complete (albeit partially disassembled) with wiring harness and goodies from another friend, oddly, both are in Houston, and I know for sure one is here. I've also acquired a blown up 4.0 for all the serpentine belt drive system.

these pics and videos are just the initial put it together and slam the engine in and see how it goes together kind of deal. I tried using a XJ oil pan and oil pick up tube, and it looked like it might work, however, the front diff and pan are trying to live in the same real estate, so I had to pull the engine back out (which I figured would happen, but had to try). I did find the correct oil pan and pickup tube from a guy parting some out up in Minnesota, and that get dropped in the mail this week, so hopefully I get to try again in 2 weeks.

Current plan is 4.2 bottom end, 4.0HO top end, XJ serpentine system and FI, working A/C and heat, working 4WD, and some different wheels.

I've only been cleaning the dog hair out of the interior for now, and trying to get it somewhat decent so I don't feel completely disgusting every time I sit in it.

Did I see you get a shout out on Dirthead Dave’s ig?

More than likely that moose piss smell is the tar sound deadening under the carpet turning back into crude oil. Or sometimes it's mouse piss.

There was one with a 401 at the Detroit gambler. I have pictures of him changing front axles in 4 different places. Apparently S10 axles work. He bought all of them at 2 stores.
