Russia / Ukraine thread

It's literally just a middle finger to Russia from the deep state. But at what expense? Everyone in the foreign policy establishment has known forever that Ukraine in NATO is the absolute brightest of red lines for Russia and what would it do for us? It's maximum risk with no reward just for a dick waving middle finger. It's completely bat shit crazy stuff. The type of bat shit crazy stuff they cried to high heavens that Trump would do. Then as they usually do, they end up trying to do the crazy shit they're accusing the other side of doing.

Ask these same morons how they think we'd react if Russia was trying to enter into a mutual defense treaty with Canada. That's essentially what we're taking about here with Ukraine into NATO. It's very easy to understand why we'd go bat shit crazy about any such talk but Putin is literally Hitler if he starts whooping ass in Ukraine when we start doing it. Trust and believe we'd overthrow Canada's government immediately of the shoe was on the other foot.

It's insane. The folks who say that are either stupid and have no clue or they love mushroom clouds.

The Bay of Pigs was a giant mess, but look at what we did when we thought the USSR was about to be on our door step. And they were going to be miles away not feet.

And Kennedy resolved that by agreeing to pull missiles out of Turkey while Russia pulled them out of Cuba. This is often left out in the telling of the history acting as if the only thing we agreed to was not invading Cuba. That's leaving out a key part of the agreement, probably because at the time that portion of the agreement was kept hush-hush from the public.

*talking about the Cuban Missile Crisis here to be clear, not specifically Bay of Pigs

You're right, I worded it wrong. Cuban missile Crisis is what I was thinking of. We came much closer to radiating the earth than anyone wants to realize, just to keep the USSR off our doorstep.

Stop the fighting, Russia keeps the land they have taken, Ukraine shuts the fuck up and goes back to selling black market babies and the USA sends Ukraine a bill for all the arms and cash they borrowed. They can pay us back in oil.
