What's new

Race truck 4653

I was told the AFM might not function properly the way I had it mounted. Something about the flapper door bouncing closed. The solution was to put it in the stock orientation.

Looking good! Where did you run the vent tubes off the valve cover to? Been struggling with that..

Now that you are back to FI, you will draw more current. What is the amperage of the TJ alt?

The alternator is a AIM/NAE (Napa) 67294, amperage rating of 94 Amps.

The Jeep TJ alt looks like it has an amperage rating of 117 amps. I didn't know you could use one on a Toyota.

My 93 ( "SandFlea" ) used a generic CS-120. just hand reworked the stock brackets, flopped a bushing over, ground a bit on the ALT housing boss; upgraded the primary alt wire to 10 Gauge, direct to the battery and BAM. 100 AMPS at 3K
its an easy mod you would need to rework the spare as well as its not bolt on

BUT

if your batteries are hot when you start, you dont run the light bar and if you dont have an E_Fan you will be gold with 75 amps or above. (I doubt the 94 provides 90 AMP at 22RE RPMs)

finally got around to making my sticker purchase this year :smokin: hopefully i can help get your rig 1 mile worth of fuel closer to the finish line!

You got like 3 foot of air! Little bounce out of the front but the back stuck pretty good!

I was screaming "AMERICA". The front end bounces pretty good off the air bumps. I wish I could set the air bumps up higher but they are set up to keep the axle and steering from hitting the oil pan.

you should see if you can get some "tuning" into your air bumps, they should help with that instead of bouncing it so much. sounds right up the alley of those lakebed tune sessions everybody talks about doing.

Good idea. We will be there earlier this year and have more time between qualifying and the EMC race.

bumps should have 50psi. who did you buy the shocks from and have you done any revavling?

The shocks and air bumps were purchased from DownSouthMotorsports. No revalving has been done. Hopefully I will have enough time on the lakebed to have a professional help me tune them. If not, I might mess with them myself.

anychance you've got a record of what the valving is? professional or not, but mobil1syn could probably tune them by ear via the internet :flipoff2:

To request a FREE tuning and setup session please email our race support department at [email protected] . After requesting a session, see the FOX techs on the Johnson Valley lakebed starting on Monday, February 4th. Stop by the FOX compound in Hammer Town or drop us a call or text on our At Track Direct-to-Tech hotline, 619-933-3074.

i don't race, but this is part of the 2013 blurb, not sure if they are still doing this stuff

having worked on stuff that downsouth has spec'd, you need to get in there. I have no issue offering my amateur advice. if you havent scheduled time with someone yet, you need to do it now, like before the end of the day. they are booking up and you may not get a shot. id skip the free tuning from fox, too many people to get anything done. if you are like most people, you get one chance a year to be around shock guys, invest in getting it done even if it means skipping prerunning.
