Picked up another 4" bullet at a pawn shop the other day. I have a couple, but none with the swivel base. Saw it on marketplace way on the other side of town. Wasn't going to drive all the way across town just for it, but happened to go to my friend's place around the corner and grabbed it for $250. I pulled the vice off and cleaned up the table and painted the legs and will probably get $100 for it in my antique booth. :smokin:

I was going to buy another vise like that couple weeks ago for $200 off of FB marketplace but backed out on it. Rare for me but I have two of them now and not sure what I’d do with a third one really. I love those vises tho.

useless. just find some old trampoline frame and cut it into sticks.

:flipoff2:
 Well I bought a bunch of pipe from HD, used it to roll my mill into place in my basement shop, then took the pipes back. They were a little scuffed up on the outside but no damage done to them.

Speaking of antique malls, there’s one huge one (didn’t realize how large until we went inside it) not far from me. I’ve never stopped there until about a week ago with my GF. I ended up buying a bunch of small items and plan on getting one of the large hand planes there if it’s still around later.

Anywho, this is some of the stuff I bought at surprisingly cheap prices.

I bought this thing last week off of eBay. I’m hoping it cuts as advertised on the tin roofing/siding I have to install on my deer blinds I’m building.

Machine tooling score...

I'm always looking out for these index cabinets and grab them when they pop up cheap enough. This ones was listed as "full of machine shop tools" for $250. More than I would pay for just the cabinet, but a few pieces of tooling caught my eye in his pics.

This was the haul:

One drawer had a bunch of broaches in it...a couple of these alone were probably worth more than I paid. :smokin:

This one had at least 30lbs of bearing bronze plus a few gear cutters

Bunch of taper shank bits. There were a surprising number of Chinese made bits here. First time I've come across china taper shanks. They're almost always vintage greenfield and the like 🤷‍♂️

And then a drawer with a geometric die head and a bunch of dies....also probably worth what I paid for the whole lot.

There were a couple drawers of random NIB hardware, one full of HSS and brazed carbide lathe tooling, and one that had a whole shit ton of springs, a bunch of random size shaft pulleys and also a pile of weird air fittings.

Damn brother, you hit a home run on that one :smokin:
Yeah that was a great haul for sure. I love those card file cabinets too and $50 is where I got all the ones I’ve bought over time. But I’d do $100 for them. I got a bunch of broach tooling along with a kit of them for free years back.

What is that dealio that looks like a live center on a Morris tapered shaft?

Picked up a set of these on a whim a while back, figured the real shallow angle ones would be helpful. Damn if I dont use them all the time.

The Shop has a couple of the Pipe Master versions and I have to say that although they seem like a good idea, I haven't found that they work well in reality. I think the solid ones would work better than the pins. Of course, the Shop has a BendTech Dragon, so I don't have to do a lot of template work...

I have the pin one. It sucks.

I like these to because I can stick them on the end of a scrap short tube (couple inches shorter then it need to be) and get angles, rotation, look. Figured out. I never used my finger one.

I'm debating ordering a second set just so I can make mock up tubes.

As I say, with access to the Dragon I don't do a whole lot of template work. It's great if you're designing from scratch and using it to cut and mark all your tubes for bending. However, if you have an existing situation it can be a bit of a pain to try to get everything exact to piece in something. At that point I'm back to templating things.

Picked up a new replacement tweco mig gun. I never used the original one that came with my miller 252 mig, but installed a used tweeco 25’ lead mig gun I had from a welding job I worked at years ago. That gun had some damage mid length on the outer black casing. There’s no telling how many miles of wire that’s been run through the old gun assy but it started giving me issues.

So I broke down and bought a new mig gun assy the same model and length. There’s no turning back after using a 25’ lead just have to make sure the line doesn’t get into too tight of bends in it. Relaxed bends or arcs is what you need. I lengthen the ground lead to 25’ also.

I also ordered two extra wire liners and 200 .035 tips. I replaced the oem nozzle with a different better setup that’s easier to service and has optional diameter nozzle tips available. The new gun currently has a big nozzle tip on it that I installed on it.

How much did that set you back? I've been considering a new lead for my hobart ironman 210, haven't serviced it in a decade.
