5.7L Hemi swap, unfortunately along with an automatic. The pseudo-manual shifter is probably a Lokar.

Price is a little steep at $64k.

Sofrieds bunghole weighs in at 2 tons:flipoff2:

How does the 68 not state "Rare" on c list?:lmao:

It's not rare. Those things were sold by the thousands to constructions companies and railroads in the 1960s. The '60s era crew cabs are way more common than the '70s and '80s versions, even 50 years later.
The only argument about the rarity is not many of them are left now as they were rode hard, and put away wet.

All that work to swap a mediocre engine and trans, whilst leaving the drum brake lame ass axles.

Hard pass.

I'm not sure what year it is, I've seen it on a Ford truck forum. It's somewhere between a 58 and 60.

I've got a 59 and my hood, parking lights, grill and the badges on the sides of the hood are different.

It appears to be a '58 according to a DDG image search. There also appears to be a couple different hood chrome/stainless trims on the '58.

Agreed on the dum brakes and shit axles, but mediocre drivetrain? Double the hp/tq from stock, probably 40%+ better fuel mileage? Ability to cruise 70-80mph on the freeway which would have previously been top speed?

The vast majority of the '60s crew cabs were 6 cylinder 4 speeds. Swapping in a 383 HP engine is far from mediocre.

As for the axles, for a cruiser, they are probably fine. I probably would prefer at least disc front brakes, but it's still a nice rig.

Saw these in Sonoma the other day. There is a white one in front of the orange one.

You're looking at it stock vs 5.7 hemi. I'm looking it with other current alternatives.

If the truck was built 15 years ago, than a 5.7L / 545re was up to date... they didn't age well. If it's a 15 y/o build and only 2500 miles, it sucks to drive.

By today's standards, I'd want to see a 6.2/4L hemi, a double over autotragic worth a shit, or period correct with a fo-foty.

Don't kid yourself. That's a 10-12mpg truck with a slant, 318, or hemi.

Overspray screams liquid overhaul and 'muh hemi' with zero other insight given.

Decent point, but it was a 10-12mpg truck with a slant while doing the double nickle... 5.7 will easily get 14 doing the speed limit on the freeway.

There's always going to be better choices. Pick your favorite engine swap street rod right now and we can all laugh at it 15 years from now "OLD WEAK ASS 6.2 THAT SUMBITCH REALLY THOUGHT HE HAD SOMETHING DIDN'T HE"

:flipoff2:

You and I view the tickin' hemi very differently. $64k is 2x, maybe 3x, for the work invested.

Oh I never said the truck was worth the $$$, or that i like it, to me its not worth 1/4 that. Actually, they left drums on the front, that's grounds for low bawls... "I'll give you $6400".

Nah, the truck is definitely not worth the asking price. Maybe $25k at the high end, but the 5.7L Hemi swap is also about 1/4 the cost of a junkyard Hellcat 6.2L and probably 1/2 the cost of a 6.4L Hemi. Yes, there are better choices if you were going "all out", which the price sort of implies, but for the money, the 5.7L is plenty. My 5.7L will turn my 35" BFGs into smoke at will, so more then enough for my truck that probably weighs about the same. I am currently looking for a junk 5.7L Hemi for my Ramcharger, as I think a stock one would be a decent swap for a off road rig. Not terribly difficult, cheap(ish) and more then enough torque to push it around on some rocks.
