I voted not to use my pics.. and it's not because I don't want irate to benefit from what I uploaded here. In fact, it's the opposite reason. There have been so many times where I'm searching projects, or something technical, and a Pinterest picture shows up first instead of the original. It's usually something I want to click on and find more information about, but I don't have a pinterest account, and the link takes me nowhere. I would much rather the images direct from irate show-up, so I can click on them and be taken to the project thread rather than Pinterest's stupid servers. .

Other than that, I understand that what I post here can be used to make money or advertise for Irate, and I'm all for that if it gives us a place to post.

the reason you voted no is why you should be voting yes.

pinterest owns the image search.
in order to even begin to make it in there this site needs traffic.
You don't get traffic unless you're on the first page.
pinterest is on the first page
because pinterest owns the image search.

If I upload something here as I see it I am giving Austin access to use those pictures for any part of the site. The only place I would draw the line is claiming that irate could sell them directly or claim them as origional content.

Pinterest is a cesspool of broken links though.

You didn't fix shit for me :flipoff2:

Whats sneaky about Pinterest? People have to manually post their stuff to there ... Or do you mean IBB is being sneaky? ... by asking everybody how they feel about it?

If you're not social media people ... don't go there. Have the domain omitted from your searches like other do.

Until now, I never had a pinterest account and when a pic came up that I wanted to see I always just clicked around the login (someplace else on the screen) and it worked just fine. A few more clicks and I was on the site that the pic was from. It is inconvenient, no argument there, but it's not impossible.

I wasn't asking you to use pinterest, or to post there. The poll was: Can this site share your pictures there as well? Aside from the Trailer Park forum, everything you post is public anyway. It's nothing but link building, building a bigger presence on the interwebs by casting more lines out to draw more people in. It requires zero effort from you.

These makes sense to me. ^

Which is, the only unfortunate part. The convenience aspect. It's like the multi quote feature here. Yes it works flawlessly, it's just not wonderfully convenient.

1. I don't mean IBB
I alaways had the feeling that pinterest used third party images (now I just learnt it does so apparently *with* consent of image owner) to boost its own traffic.
They make it hard to find the source esp on mobile (I just now found how it works, yes I'm kinda retard but not worse than gen pop ?) they'd much rather keep you on their site I guess.
2.I hate the "must register" policy, but as of today facebook seems even worse.
In google image search I seem to never get a from a different source if the pic is on pinterest, like pinterest litteraly owns the pictures.
3.see 1
4.ok but a.pinterest broke image search. b.visitors will visit pinterest then *maybe* IBB

<scratching head> social media = necessary evil </>

Thank you for your effort BTW :flipoff2:
