What's new

Patey's Scrappy

I first read that thinking Mike was behind that. Obviously he’s a smart guy, but there’s no way that’s a good idea. Eventually figured out thats a group in Poland. My lunch money says it goes the same way as all the other concept airplanes these days.

I imagine that's going to depend on how many deposits they get and how much the Polish government subsidizes it.
I read that they've already bought the type certificates and technical data so in theory they could start producing piston wilgas right now.

Right, but generally they don’t cease production on things when they’re selling well. Is there really a market for a $3-5 million(?) turboprop Bush plane with limited cargo capacity?

IT will be very niche...

BUT, if the Search and Rescue game starts adopting this type of aircraft then they can tap into a new revenue stream.

They had those type of aircraft and they also went out of production, the helio courier for example. Bush and STOL aircraft are badass, but for search and rescue, I don't see an advantage of one of these over a helicopter.

It will be fun watching doctors lawn dart these into the ground, I imagine a turbo prop bush plane like draco would be a handful.

Endurance and range for searching. Time on station for radio middle man.

You haven't shopped a plane for a while, have you.
My point was you don't need a $4million speciality plane to loiter over the imaginary search and rescue area.

Hell those ass clowns in the civil air patrol who can't navigate their way out of a paper bag with it ripped half open use 172s

Hey I resemble that remark!! but don't hold back, tell us how you really feel.
In my defense, our squadron has really good, professional pilots, but I don't think thats normal.
On a related note, its mostly 182s and they cost close to 500k now with the equipment they come with.

I had "squadrons" based at a few of the airports I worked at and they were complete morons. Like I would be eaten by wolves before they would even figure out how to get the aircraft started level of retarded. Perhaps there are good ones out there, but damn I have zero faith in them actually doing something. Spare me the fact they dropped the first bomb in WW2 or whatever they like to share.

500k used!? Or is that new.

I want a 182 and was using 200 as the number to save for.
